Hello, I put down my first coat of Rustoleum Professional Epoxy (Solvent based). Today it is drying, i did notice some uneven gloss areas.
I am pretty sure its because I had a little bit of epoxy after doing first coat, and didnt want to throw that epoxy away so I spread it over some thinned areas, but you can see some glossy areas in between some opaque areas.
I took about 2 hrs total and it was less than 90 degrees during install.

Any tips for 2nd coat? Im not to worried since its the first coat, but I need to make sure to do it more evenly on the second coat.

I plan to work in small 4x4 sections, do the flaking and throw away any excess.

thanks

Hi,
What are are experiencing has been reported on this forum before. Either you put it on a bit uneven like you said, or the floor had uneven porosity. Priming the floor would have eliminated this issue, so now the floor is 'primed' so a second coat should even it out quite nicely. Don't wait too long as you may lose your 'recoat window'.

Thank you.

You always want to check with the manufacturer of the product specifics. If this was my floor I would also lightly degloss that first coat. Lightly sand and wipe with denatured alcohol. Yes, it may be overkill, but it beats the heck out of having adhesion issues later.
