Reliable? What happens to them? Never seen them have issues. I have one looks just like it but with a name of chief from harbor freight. Works great no issues

The valves fail and leak over time. It's a sealed unit so that there is no way to fix.

Fine for the price and may give you years of service depending on what you keep your max pressure set at or if you use a shut off valve at night.

I have the same style but from a more expensive source (tool trucks) not saying they're better. I do remove the roll pin and then the plunger from mine once in a while and apply a little Sil-Glyde then reassemble. Many of mine are 20+ years old and still work great. I have them on multiple coiled hoses at various drops around my shop.

The plastic eventually cracks and the valves eventually leak. I’d like to find a nice metal body one in a blowgun style. I’ve seen lots out there I just haven’t decided which one I want and curious if anyone had personal experience they would like to share.

I have a Milton version of that long blowgun. It’s been very good. Model S-197

Had it about a year or so, makes it easier to blow the crud out of the tractor radiator pre screen.

I also just bought a new Capri aluminum air blow gun a few months back based on a recommendation from a fellow forum member. I liked the premise that it is adjustable. I use this one solely for my lathe and mill work stations and so far I really like it. All of my other stations have the standard piston grip blow guns, most with the rubber tip. I hate the OSHA safety style ones.

I use it around my drill press and it works well. High volume /med pressure.

The most used blow gun is like this one. Use an inverted flare to pipe fitting and brake line. The brake line can be bent repeatedly to reach what ever you want. Straighten when your done.

I started using interstate pneumatics metal blow guns, it's what my fastener supply house carries. I've had tons of those plastic blow guns bust on me before.

While in the shop tonight I snapped a few pictures of mine.

I have six of these Matco pistol grips on various air drops around the shop. One at each end of my main workbench, next to my solvent tank, next to one of my shop sectional doors that easily reaches outside mainly used for blowing off lawn equipment and a couple other drops.

An assortment of others kept where readily available in a drawer next to my vise.

A couple of OSHA approved ones that we have to use at work that I absolutely despise.

Been using this type of blow gun in the link for awhile. Like them but they aren’t the most reliable. Any recommendations on a similar but better blow gun?

I have the Bluepoint one like that and really like it. I also have the HF one that looks just like it. It works ok but you can tell which one is better. I also have the red Snap-On one like that but like the original one better.

These blow enough air that it "kicks back" when the trigger is pulled. It's too much for some applications. $13.00 at Menards, but probably available just about anywhere under a different name.

I've had a Milton S-153 for many years and no issues. It's not the same design as many posted but I've never had a situation where it didn't work :)

"CEJN" from Sweden or "JWL" from Denmark (also avail. from Snap-On)

I used to use CEJN for every manifold. The newer ones are not up to the standards of the older models, though. The trigger starts sticking, not returning to the fully closed position, for one thing.

I have switched over entirely to the Milton S-194KIT guns. Much less expensive than the CEJNs, and they seem to be better built. 235 max psi, and I toss the "kit" pieces that come with it, as they are hard to use (cannot get the adapter back off). I only want the gun, anyway.

I've had a couple of the plastic body versions fail on me. Even the high-end brands are vulnerable to real-life rough handling. It's just one of those things where using plastic instead of metal doesn't make a lick of sense in the real world.

The "Merlin" branded metal bodied air gun from Harbor Freight is quite nice, easily available and cheap. The Merlin stuff in general is pretty darn nice.

Milton stuff is excellent, and the prices aren't pants-on-head stoopit like the truck brands. There are some farm stores that carry Milton stuff on the shelf, which is handy.

I have an aluminum body Blue Point/Snap On for 30 years now used almost daily and never had a problem with it.

I've had the Coilhose Typhoon for years without any problems, not everyday use though. Plus they're OSHA compliant if that matters to you or your employer.
