Thanks for all the replies.
Its good when others appreciate the work that's gone into this build. Most people I talk to just don't have a clue on whats involved. I have found it hard to keep up momentum over the 4 years and some days I have thought I was a fool to start, but then had to just **** it up and keep on going. Can't stop half way through can you?
Even though it was a hassle that the build took so long, the benefit was that I got to work 2 days on and take 5 days resting my hands at work. The holidays were great for progress, but hell on my hands.
Just had carpel tunnel surgery 4 weeks ago on my left hand and so far it isn't going too well, so very happy the build is finished and I can take it easy organizing the workshop and hopefully get into my projects.

Mate, your carpentry, engineering skills and ingenuity of how to "getter done" never cease to amaze me. I love the look of all the bare metal and natural wood. Those doors are genius, and from your previous post, don't worry about the loose joints and man door having to be encouraged a bit to close tight for locking, it's all CHARACTER dude!!!
:), Cheers BuickFarmer, I'm ok with character, but was hoping it would take a bit longer. Just one of the hassles with working with recycled timber.
Pardon my ignorance and maybe you said, but what will the tank be used for? I am assuming roof rain water runoff? hence the gutter screens. How are they working by the way?
Tank is for the gardens, we have a bush block and are trying to establish as many native plants as we can to keep the weeds down. So far we have a 23,000L at the house and 20,000L at the workshop. Way mmore then we need for the gardens, but down the track I will likley end up running the house off them as well. I'd love to go off grid one day. Compost toilet is on the cards, but PV panels can only go on the workshop roof and am waiting for the battery storage tech to improve before I unplug. (the tesla wall mount ones have promise now they are in Aus). The gutter mesh is working well, the leaves are kept out, but small the small stuff gets through. I have to manually empty the tank strainer from time to time or it over flows. I have to come up with an inline separator to remove all the small debris. The workshop is a trial before I do the same on the house.
Thanks for the update, believe me I know how difficult it is to keep up with posting your achievements, I am only about a year behind myself.

Cheers everyone,
Nathan

Amazing work, that floor has come up beautiful - better than the floors in my house!

My mum has had both her carpel tunnels done, took a little recovery but she's much better than she was before the op. Good luck with the recovery and dont push yourself too hard.

"bush block"??
Great you're taking advantage of rainwater runoff. A lot of municipalities here in the US have Stormwater Management Programs and Utilities. Rain barrels and cisterns are a part of the program and installing some here on the farm is on the "honey dew" list.
Any chance you have detailed pictures of the installed gutter guards
Hope you are recovering from the ct surgery. Just curious what problems were you having that made you have the surgery. My fingers go numb a lot and wondering if that is a symptom?
Look forward to the next update;-)

So........what's happening. I have just spent a couple of days looking for this thread (thanks for the help 1/2), I had it in my head that you were in the Blue Mountains above Sydney. I have passed on the link to a friend that would like to build something similar.
Thanks for the great work.

Great job Nathan,

I have just gone through the thread again, and you are an inspiration!!

I love your flooring, and your use of recycled materials.

Take care of your hands, and let them heal. It does take time, but all should come good. My torn bicep tendon repair took almost a year before I had full use, so take it slowly.

It seems such a short time since you were answering questions on your footings to me, and now you say it has been 4 years.

Keep up the great work, and keep us updated.

Cheers,

Ken

"My Aussie Garage starts this week" is the thread for my build.

Since I have had my left hip replaced I am a big advocate for "DOING YOUR PHYSIO". My recovery was so slow in the beginning, but once I got onto a good physio fellow I was getting well very quickly. I see him now every 6 weeks and he does from just below my knee to my ears. Being stupid and showing off when I was younger has had its drawbacks. So if you want a pep talk just get hold of me!!!!
