HF would probably sell a lot of black and blue full size tool cabinets too if they were to offer them.

Think about it...its only paint. Quick change out of powder color on the assembly lines.

I would buy the 44 in black, my next garage I want two side by side in a roller cart with a stainless top and black would look so much cleaner for that.

Asked my local HF store4 about the blue carts and they were told they couldn't sell them yet but they were in stock.
Then he called the store in the next city over and they were selling them, so he said he will bring them out on the floor...

Now just gotta make some space in the garage for it....

When I bought my 41" box from Northern tool, it was a little pricier than the HF one but it was blue instead of red. I just really don't like red tool boxes and spent the extra money just to get a blue one. If HF had blue or black at the time, I definitely would have gone with them.

You do realize that is a monochrome photo to emphasize the parts they are highlighting?

There is zero color on the ratchets, labels or screwdrivers. Hate to break it to you but there is no grey cart there

My cart is fully assembled now.
The mods I had planned for it are complete except for paint & final installation of a piece of pegboard on the side.
Here are some pictures.

I really like the blue, I'd say I'm 50/50 on matching my HF box or springing for the blue

I'd buy my kid a green four- or five-drawer cart....

The blue looks killer. Really wish it was available last November, when I bought the red one. All of my boxes/carts are black and red. A shot of blue would have been nice.

Has anyone looked to see if the old cart can be updated to 90* opening using the new cart parts?

When I looked at it the lower bracket is installed by welds on both the new and the old carts and relocated on the bottom. I also think the location on the lid is also changed and they use a spot weld on it. I did notice on the blue cart there is a dimple in the lid where the spot welds are at. Nothing to get worried about as the red one I have (the older version) Also has the same slight dimpling.

Here are pictures with the pegboard painted and installed.
I am going to install a mat on the top of the lid when the weather warms up.
I'll also sooner or later do something about the red sidetray.
Other than those items, I'm done with it.

Very nice- I wish I had need of yet another HF tool box. I have two 44's, and a 5 drawer, all in red. I just 'fixed' the lid on my 5 drawer with a couple folding braces ($2.50 a piece at Lowe's). It's amazing how different it feels with the lid fully open, and the folding braces take up less space than the air cylinders.

Got a picture of this modification?

It's at work, and I'm home with the flu til Monday (yay). I got the idea from guys that do a similar mod with lid braces ordered from Snap-On. Folding braces don't help lift the lid, or support it on the way down, but I'm a big boy, and can handle closing a lid.

Thanks for all the pics! I stopped by my local store a few days ago and they still didn't have the blue out on display. I really hope they start making all the add on accessories (paper towel holder, glove holder, etc.) in the same colors.

Just got mine last night. I sold my almost new red one to buy the blue one. I started getting together but had a lot more trouble on the blue than the red one especially considering I have put one together already.
