IMHO, if it were me its a no brainer, case closed...Id be posting pictures of my new Blue Point set..:lol_hitti

Wow really?? I thought I would get made fun of for even considering the BP because its made overseas.
One thing I like about the SK is it includes 1/4 shallow and 13/16 & 7/8 deep and shallow sockets where as the BP doesn't include any 1/4, 13/16 or 7/8. Those are actually common sizes I use often that would have to be carried extra with the BP set. The 3 extra metric sockets in the BP are irrelevant to me honestly. I do like the BP set though.

I love the blue point set I have. I don't use the ratchets because I prefer others that I own but they certainly work when needed. Big reason I love the set is that it has everything in 6 and 12 point. 6 point is needed in the north east. I also love the size range.

I'm not personally hell bent on COO...I like good tools, wherever they come from be it Germany or Taiwan. Some people get completely bent out of shape about COO (while sitting in their ALL imported clothing ).
Good tools are good tools...period. Lets talk about the 50 other factors we can use when deciding what to purchase... Personally, to me, I'm not big on mail in warranty...I like face to face, so the Expert/BP/Other brand would win..quite honestly, I'd go buy a Kobalt or Harbor Freight set before buying the SK for that reason alone. If I buy a tool online, I view it as a disposable item. I don't typically buy anything that costs more then 50 bucks and view it as disposable.

That right there is a good reason to go with the SK...you got the need & justification, and its not like adding/changing stuff in a blow molded case is easy...

I don't have the luxury of warranting a tool any other way than mail in. Last time I tried walking up to a Matco truck the guy told me he couldn't help me and walked away. So I never tried again. Nor did I buy Matco again. I'm not a mechanic so I can't blame him I guess, but it was a only 3/4 socket...

As for buying tools online, SK isn't sold many places, so what choice do I have?

I'm not sure if you are being sarcastic or not, but there is nothing I hate more than that one (or 5) mismatched socket you had to replace that never stays in its proper location.

What it really comes down to, is how well the tools work. In this case how well the sockets grip or bite the bolt or nut. I like to see fresh, shiny metal after I remove the socket. No play, no rounding off, no worries of breaking it. I don't get that when I buy Harbor Freight. HF is good for hammers, dust masks, mini hook and pick sets, stuff that doesn't do anything. IMO

LOL, I was being serious...the SK had some sizes you said you needed/wanted..that's a good reason to head in that direction.

As for your warranty and sales situation...its a shame some franchisee's treat customers that way. I suppose Maine is small enough that every customer is an important customer, I'm not a mechanic either...but I've had a great relationship with a couple SO guys and a MAC guy...overall I couldn't be happier. Between that and the closure of the local Sears and overall gutting of them, I've dumped most of my USA CMan stuff...
