I picked up this bench grinder yesterday and I'm trying to find some more info on it without much luck.
I have only run it for a short test, but it runs awesome, powers right up quick and no drag with applied pressure.
It does have a partially broke and missing wheel cover on the left side. I was hoping to find parts somewhere and at least some general info on it.
Oh, by the way, I found this grinder by posting a WTB ad on CL...got it for $40
Thanks in advance for the help! :)

Re: Blue Point Bench Grinder *Update

I have found some info on here (GJ) and doing some digging on the net. I'm still trying to track down some actual parts though.:headscrat

I talked with the people at Wissota, and this particular bench grinder is pre-Wissota days. Really nice people there at Wissota and the parts expert seems to think the grinder was made by Doerr Electric Cedarburg, WI.

Doerr Electric has quite the history. Here is some info off the Leeson Electric website...
"Our enthusiasm for this business has stood the test of time. It has continued through three generations of a single family devoting themselves to the manufacture of motors and related power transmission components. It began over 80 years ago with Emil Doerr at St. Louis Electrical Works, later renamed Baldor Electric, with Emil as co-founder. In 1939, Emil's son Lee and two of his brothers founded Doerr Electric. Finally, in 1972, Lee's sons formed LEESON Electric Corporation. Few American companies can trace their roots so deeply, and fewer still can draw upon such a wealth of electric motor manufacturing experience"

Doerr Electric was sold to WW Grainger in 1969- then possibly sold again to Emerson Electric in 1986.

That's all I got for now...

Wow what a find- I have a thing for old grinders (own 5) and look @ them all the time and have never seen any or heard of a old Blue-Point like yours. I have a Doerr that came out of a Navy shipyard in the early 60's only has a single shaft and 1800rpm. Very quiet and smooth. Don't let that 1/4hp rating fool you. Mine is also a 1/4 I can't slow it down. Great find. Regards

Nope, not from VT CL. I posted my own "Items Wanted" ad for a bench vise & bench grinder on my local CL.
I never realized how effective that would be...a LOT of responses and I actually got some good deals. Next time I'm looking for something...instead of searching & searching, I'll just post a WTB ad and let the deals come to me.
...of course I live in rural Upstate NY, a lot of old farms and estates= a lot of old treasures.
