My mechanics got these jack stands.

Normally, they get pretty damn expensive gear, so I was a bit surprised. But they said they were good.

I really wanted the AC Hyrdraulics flat top stands. And should've gotten them when I could. Had several opportunities, but I just talked about it  Which seems to be a common thing on GJ. At least for me.

Actually, for what they are, they are expensive...these can be had from multiple different sources, under multiple different brand names, obviously w/ out the "Blue Point" name, for 1/3 of that cost...

Typical Blue Point rebranding...that is what they do, after all...

I'm not slamming BP by any means - as you might notice by my sig line, I collect some of their older stuff...still, that markup is insane.

Oh cool, the same set I've had laying around for years, that came with a cheap Torin aluminum jack.

HD and Northern sell the Torin version for $79.

Those exact jack stands can be had much cheaper from several different suppliers. They might not be blue but they will be the exact same thing. I have a set and I paid less than half of the price that you quote.

My harbor frieght $20 specials work fine and have paid for themselves 1,000x times over. Paint has held up pretty well.

I have 2 pairs of the bluepoints and 1 pair of the similar looking Otc's.
My g.f. bought me the bluepoint aluminum race jack and stand set for my bday last summer.
And I bought the 2nd set off of the truck for $90
The Otc's I paid around $70 or $80
The price difference wasn't worth the time searching the net for the lowest price plus waiting for them to arrive at the time compared to just texting my snap on guy and getting them IMO

I like them a lot they are light and stable enough to support an Fbody,Corvette or Cadillac CTS while doing engine swaps with a 200lb+ friend standing on the k-member or sitting in the engine bay while I am underneath the cars..

The base plates on the blue points are thicker and a slightly different design than the otc's other than that they are identical even in color.

Other than that every one I know has a set or 2 for home and or track.
I like the light weight and they take up less real estate in the bottom of one of my carts vs other stands.

Thanks Jersey. Good that you pointed out the minor differences between the OTC and the BP-rebranded ones. The BP's did look pretty damn good for what they were. I've got a pair of Horror Freight (that failed first use -- no joke) and a pair of the Hein-Walker 4 or 6 ton US-made jacks. The latter are pretty solid. But it'd be nice to have a pair of the BP's at some point -- just because they're so lightweight. I meant to go with the AC Hyrdaulic or the Esco model when I had a chance, but sort of waited a while; and the BP design I like better than the ESCO.
