Hey guys, I bought a Blue Point multi meter today (MT586). It seems to work, bu5when I turn it on, it reads “OUCH.” It was cheap enough, it was worth the risk for me. If i put it on ohms, it settles to close to zero when I touch the leads together and it seems to read proper AC and DC voltage. Do you guys know what the OUCH message means? I have tried to find a manual, but there is nothing out there that I could find. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Sounds like it is a UEI meter, for a long time Snapon has been rebranding these meters.

You might check the fuses. Does it say it in all modes? Also, a number of meters have a "probe detect" function that identifies when the probes are in the A or mA jacks when the meter is in voltage or other ranges. If your probes are in the amp jacks while you are in other ranges it will alarm. If nothing is in the jacks you might try cleaning the holes out. Sometimes metal filings get into those open jacks and trip the alert.

Nope, UEI uses "OUCH" as their cute way of saying "OL". There is nothing wrong with the meter.

Okay, awesome guys. I bought it because of the rpm and temp functions, which my other multimeters don’t have. It looks to be in good shape. I gave $20 for it, along with the spark plug wire clamp and a set of probe extension cables. Good deal or no?

Any chance anybody has a copy of the manual?
