Blue Point or Wright combination wrenches

I am having a dilemma about combination wrenches. I bought a toolbox that had a bunch of Blue Point Tools in it and I kept the metric combination wrenches. The set is not complete and I have to spend $62 to complete it from the Snap-on website.

an alternative would be to sell the blue point wrenches for 75 or $80 and then spend about $135 on a set of Wright wrenches.

So money-wise it's about the same but I'm trying to figure out which ones I'd rather have in the long run. Any advice or suggestions?

bought some Wright Grip 2.0 wrenches a couple months and I'm very satisfied. The beam is much thicker than the competing Snap on FD+ and for my hand, much more comfortable. The chrome is perfect. And they are well labeled, easy to see the sizing. I consider them excellent value

I really like Wright wrenches. I have a set, they are by far my favorites. I have Snap-on, Proto, Blackhawk, SK, Mac and Proto/Challenger, and the Wrights are still my favorite.

I don't care for BP wrenches. I've used them, but I didn't like them as much.

Wrights are my favorite too. US made, US steel, feel great in your hand and as noted I can see the darned sizes without my glasses.

Only caveat is if you use the open end to tug hard on something, you'll mark the fastener. Have some other (SK) wrenches that don't have the wrightgrip feature for soft metals or light duty work.

I don't much care if I mark a fastener under the car. But when I'm working on my outboard where there's a lot of aluminum and stainless, and torques are low, the shorter SK's are the ticket.

So depending on your uses, you might want to keep the BP's.

Sounds like most people like the Wright wrenches better.

There is little question whether Wright tools are high quality. The main question I ask about their combination wrenches is whether or not I want wrenches with alligator teeth on the open end. This choice boils down to Your personal preference. Snap-on and Proto also offer wrenches with the alligator teeth, but I am more than satisfied with the performance of their smooth jaw wrenches.

Wrights are nice wrenches, but if I needed to get something real tight like a castellated ball joint nut or a tie rod nut, I'd choose a different wrench.

I would just keep the tools you already have and use them. The wrenches you add on later do not necessarily have to be the same brand. Just be aware that there are lots of cheaper Made in Taiwan options out there besides Blue point. As for Wright wrenches, they are known to be on the short side of things and they probably wouldn't be an option for me unless I wanted the Wright Grip ones for the teeth on the open end.

I went ahead and ordered the Blue Point replacements to complete the set today. I did call Epstein though, and asked whether they thought the Wright satin wrenches or the polished ones would be more durable. He said he thought the satin ones might hold up better over the long haul.

Not all Blue Point wrenches are made in Taiwan.....They DO have a line of USA made wrenches that are identical too Snap-on Flank Drive, But are "satin" finished.

I bought my 8-19mm set in 2003, Some promotional deal & saw the same set recently on the Snap-on truck.
The Taiwan Blue Point's don't have a COO on them & are junk in my opinion.

I lost the 10mm a few years back & replaced it with a Flank Drive Plus.
