Blue Point oxy/acetylene - your thoughts?

looking at buying oxy/acetylene torch set. I found a used Blue Point torch/regulator/hose setup, but cannot find any additional information.

What do you guys think of the blue point stuff as compared to the other mainstream sets (victor, smith harris) ?
Is the BP a re brand of one of these, or a one of those __insert brand____style type torches.

I'd honestly stick to the mainstream brands. That way you'll have access to replacement tips at any welding supply house and good hardware stores.

Don't know anything about the Blue Point. My guess is that it is a rebranded torch; will get corrected if wrong.

I would suggest staying with the known brands. My suggestion would be the Victor 100 series. Check your local dealer for a sale.

i think im going to find a new kit, but some deals are worth looking into. im gussing im going with smith or victor. ill see what i can spot locally firts. i see kits listed as light med heavy duty. what does the victor 100 come in as?

im going to guess the jewlery kit is too small for welding some new headers. what size kit is big enough but not over doing it? will the medium duty kits be enough?

Medium duty will be plenty, they are not light duty at all, with the right tip could cut a 2 or 3 inch plate or more with one. I would pass on the Blue point unless someone gave it to me. I think the 100 is a medium, its a good unit, have a couple buds got them, 25 yrs, maybe 30 still work well.
