blue point pliers

Does anyone have any comments regarding blue points long reach hose pliers? I want/need a set but the ones at harbor freight seem unreliable. i want a decent set but at a good cost. thanks.

Try gear wrench brand. B.P's are made in oversea too.

Double "X" pliers **** for day to day use. The double joint cuts the pressure you can exert, probably in half.

This may be a stupid question but how exactly are these used? Do you grab the hose and twist? Do you grab behind the end of the hose and pull? If you squeeze the hose and twist wouldn't it pinch the hose to the ****** the hose is on?

you just grab the hose and pull. not too tight of course, and if it is stuck then you twist a little. usually them pull right off

I haven't had a single problem with my HF ones yet. even converted a set into a SP boot pullers.

I've got the Bluepoints and have never had any problem with them. A friend of mine uses the HF ones exclusively and swears by them, so it's really a judgement call.

I have the BP ones and a set of Masterall ones. The BP have much sturdier handles.

And then the brittle plastic hose ****** breaks off.

Hose pliers come in handy for other thing, too. They are pretty good on dipstick tubes and just about anything round you need to grasp and move around.
