I haven't used those particular ratchets, but in my experience with Blue Point tools, they are generally just as good as thier Snap-On cousins. The only difference I see with most is that the Snap-On line gets hand polished while the Blue Point line has a natural finish. Quality always seems to be about the same. I think those ratchets are fairly new. The were not available 4 years ago when I was in the market for a set. Either that or the Snap-On salesman didn't want to fool with them. I didn't see them in the big catalogs though.

You can not beat the feel of a Snap-On and/or Blue Point tools, others do not compare as far as fit and finish. Well worth the price.

Racheting wrenches are made in taiwan...

here is the email i got, I am disapointd

Jared, thank you for your email.

Most of our Blue-Point hand tools are manufactured overseas or from outside manufacturing plants in North America. They carry the same lifetime warranty as Snap-on branded tools that are manufactured in our own US plants.

What I was informed

Snap~on tried to woe me into being a dealer (fat chance), as I knew more about the tools, then our last two.
What I was told, by the rep and a former Snap~on dealer was if it say's Snap~on, it is USA made (though not always by them), if it says Bluepoint, it is of foreign construction.

I bought all my Snap~on quick release ratchets off of ebay, including their new 1/4" drive size.
As for Gearwrenchs, Dahaner owns both KD (gearwrench) and Armstrong (USA made) and makes the Craftsman ones (here from what I was told).

Damn! If that's the case, just go down to Home Depot and buy some Husky ratchets. They're just as nice as any other ratchets I've seen from Taiwan, maybe nicer. I have a couple and I have been rather impressed. Save your $$$. My .02.

Why don't you make a run down to Bellingham? You could hit Sears at the mall and Hardware Sales downtown. Now THERE's where to shop for tools!

They've been around pretty much forever. It's a real, live, honest to goodness hardware store with old-time customer service and great selection. I used to go there quite a bit when I lived in La Conner. They're just west of I5 at the State/Iowa street exit.

I asked my Snap-On guy about the Blue Point ratchets today. He said they are kind of slow sellers compared to the Snap-On line. He told me he has one 3 piece set on the truck for $99.99. I asked him why it was cheaper than the online store and he said that the online store inflates the price over the "on the truck price". I might get them next week, if he still has them in stock. That is if I can sneak the money past my wife.

On another board there was a big discussion about Craftsman Canada, a while back. Guess what, Stanley makes them, as well as Mastercraft and Husky, and they bought out SK's former owner, Facom (deal finalized in January). SK seperated from Facom just before that happened (and I think do to that). You might contact Gray, as I know at least a couple items of theirs are imports.
