some people place far to much emphasis on the COO if it will do the job in which it designed for why do I need to know where it was made?

To me, it's a huge issue. I go out of my way to not support American firms that ship jobs overseas, then bring the **** back here to sell to us, in order to make a larger profit than they already make. Other issues as well which I won't mention but for me, it's a matter of principle. I know that there are a few on the forum who will attempt to dog me, but it's my money and my principles, and I stick to them and won't sell myself out. Period.

The biggest problem with this logic is that Snap-on owns the Blue-Point trademark so if you want to follow through completely you can't buy made in USA Snap-on either. You also need to make sure SK is sourcing all of their steel and other raw materials from US sources. What about the office supplies? Is it ok if they use pens made in China?

I'm not picking on you because I also like the warm fuzzy of buying American but eventually it becomes like trying to be a vegan. Taken to its logical extreme it is impossible unless you just go homestead somewhere and make everything yourself.

Blue Point was actually American way back when. I imagine Snappy bought them to offer a lower price point or used them like a cougar pro sort of thing.

Blue-Point was a stand alone company as far back as the late 20s or early 30s which manufactured wrenches under its own and under contract for Snap-On until it was acquired by Snap-On much like Vacuum-Grip was for their pliers production. I've seen examples of late 1990s combination wrenches identical to Snap-On

Blue point these days is a mixed bag. There's the odd made in USA item and the rest is generally a mix of Made in China and Taiwan stuff. As for the older stuff, it's mostly USA made.
