I've got one in my 30 x 50, 30K BTU propane. I had great hopes for it, but found out on this site that I hadn't prepared my building well enough ( insulation and such). I know that with the propane model you need a dehumidifier, moisture is a byproduct. Also make sure you have an oxygen depletion sensor.

I just installed one yesterday in my 2-car garage. Seems to work pretty well so far. Its -5 out right now, and it heated my garage up pretty quick.

I added a Carbon Monoxide monitor in the garage also, just to be a bit safer out there.

I have one in my 22 x 26 garage that is fairly well insulated. I did have to add a dehumidifier and I bought a carobn monoxide monitor for insurance sake. I can't say that it would heat up my garage quick from a unheated condition though. This year I went ahead an left it on the lowest setting which leaves it at about 55 deg. So far the wife hasn't noticed anything bad on the gas bill so I guess it isn't using much. I like having it since there have been a couple of times where we have lost elec in the past 3 years so it is nice to be able to go to the garage and light up the lantern and be warm.

I had one and the best thing I did was got rid of it. When I would leave it on for an extended period and go out of the garage...when I came back in, you could smell iit. It's ventless. It will put off fumes to a certain extent. If you do any grinding or do anything to stir up any dust, it will start to burn dirty. Also after one season, you could tell the walls were starting to yellow from the moisture it puts out along with any dirt that was sticking to the walls because of the moisture. I now have a furnace in the garage and it is great. No moisture problems and above all, no smell. Like everyone else stated, get a carbon monoxide detector.

I've got a 10k btu one i use in a single-car attached garage.

I got it because i live in a condo, and i can't install an outside-vented heater. I didn't want electric, because the electric rates in CT are astronomical, therefore i didn't have a lot of choice.

I bought it because a friend has one and likes it, and he reccomended it. I don't like it. actually, it kind of *****. Basically, all the problems everybody else mentioned. it stinks, and makes my eyes water, and throat sore after running it for a while I don't run it, unless it gets super-cold. In fact, i don't think i've run it for more than 4 or 5 hours total since i got it last year. I haven't even turned it on this year.

Thank you all. I guess I will go with a Hot Dawg, so I dont have the problems. Blue Flame heaters just seemed very cost effective.
