Hi, not sure if warranty would cover my little issue,
I have the full set of 8mm thru 19mm rachet wrenches which are in great shape apart from the lettering has faded, and very hard to see what sizes are.
Anyone else have this issue? is it a common thing?
A new set is $260 or ebay $140 plus.....
(I rate them 9 out of 10)

Engrave on the sizes or use the size marking stickers for sockets they should work I don't think warranty covers something like that

Don't like laser marked stuff for that reason. Don't engrave. Look for some kind of plastic sticker.

What do you use to wipe your tools down with? I use to use brake cleaner but found it degraded the writing on the tool, albeit chrome tools, or plastic handles. Now I use wd.

I've traded brand new sockets for warranty before because the chrome wasn't perfect at the top. Ask your driver.

An experienced mechanic doesn't have to read the side of a socket or wrench to know what size it is.

Do you measure the fastener before choosing the socket appropriate for that fastener?

I used to be able to just glance at a tool or fastener and know the size. But then age catches up with you. I got the turning 40 and had to wear glasses problem. Throws everything off, now even with glasses it's a pain to get the right tool for the right fastener , and it's hard to see some of the little tiny sizes stamped on some tools.

The trend of laser engraving on tools is one of the worst ideas ever. Embossed is mildly tolerable, imprinted is mildly tolerable, decals and laser engraving is completely unacceptable. Deep, sharp, stamping is the only way to go.

But you have them, so I'd go with some sort of decal that you change out periodically as they wear off.

Yeah, laser engraving *****. It's like they're too ashamed of the tools to roll stamp them. Are you listening, Snap On?.......LASER ENGRAVING *****!!

Something tells me that laser engraving was the marketing dude's idea. It looks pretty in the package, but the love affair ends right quick once it's out of the packaging.

Sorry to hear Snap On has fallen prey to laser engraving...you'd think someone there would have caught that one.

i can only accept laser etching as a good idea if it is done along with a stamped mark... like my SK impacts
