I'm adding a lean-to shed (6x14) to store/work on/display my 2 BMW motorcycles so my garage can be freed up more for fun projects. I had previously solicited some advice in this thread: https://www.garagejournal.com/forum...d-walls-for-my-small-lean-to-bump-out.521675/

Well, permits came thru and I have some progress to report so here are some photos!

Slab poured and first wall up:

Next wall up:

Final (door) wall:

Test fitting the bikes:

Framed up!

I decided to go with a 30% transmission Suntuf roof to get some light in there for the ambiance. I may also end up putting some plants in there. The lower housewrap is there to help keep water out since the slab is at grade (also sealed between base plate and slab), and it's shorter on one section because the clearance is really tight to get back there and it was the only way I could step through and get the siding back there...

Also got the siding on (T111):

And what's going on inside? Finally got a chance to pull one of the bikes in and start hanging some decor. Now that it's all coming together I think I want to drywall it to look super clean, but then if you drywall you should insulate first, and it's against the uninsulated garage, so you should insulate that too, and the project kind of runs away...

I think it looks pretty cool with the full sunroof:

Nice looking garage addition. I’ve seen similiar additions on YouTube.

One project always turns into many sub projects.(Project creep)

Make a plan on cleaning the roof panels. It won’t take long for the. To get dirty.

Two things:

1. Drainage off the roof. Where is the water going? I can see water infiltration being a issue.

2. Ledger mounting. Can't tell from the pictures but how solid is it?

Planning to add a gutter on the long side to drain to the alleyway. That was part of the plan for my sewer use & drainage permit.

Ledger is screwed through to the top plates of the garage with shear-rated Simpson screws.

All hail the mighty GS! That airhead is just gorgeous too.

Nice parking spot they'll have there. I cleaned my shed out so that I'd have somewhere to do bike maintenece and it has snowballed into insulating, walls and ceiling, new floor, paint, plans for a mini-split, etc. Slippery slopes abound.

Good idea. I put a skylight in the house and the rain does a pretty good job keeping it clean enough, but I’ll keep an eye on it!

Thanks! I really love both bikes for different reasons, last of the non-liquid cooled GS (and lightest sub-generation!) and the airhead is an R90/6, so it still gets up and goes 48 years later!

Yeah, we’ll see if I decide to do the insulation/drywall…something tells me I’ll get bored and do it…
