Anybody have a source for BMW related tools? I'm trying to replace a faulty windshield wiper motor and need the pry tool to remove the wiper arms and the engine bay trim.It looks like a strange phillips head but I'd rather not start prying and tearing.I figure I'll probally need em again so why not buy the correct tools...Thanks

Pics of what you are doing? I've never used any "special" tools to deal w/ wiper arms and trim on a bimmer...

also:

Samstag has a decent stock of "special" tools, there are a few others out there, but I like them.

I've got to pull off the wiper arms...they have a angled bushing below the threads. The trim is in the engine compartment..I have to remove all of the arm linkage and the cabin filter etc...just to get at the wiper motor. It may not even be bad...but I have to pull it out to check it.Evidently there is a fault at the gears where the grease from the gears runs into the electrical connections causing a fault. This means the wipers stop working whenever it faults...which I found out yesterday in a rainstorm.....

Bulldog13,

Baum Tools out of Florida sells service tools for BMWs. Here is a link to the catalog that shows the special windshield wiper puller:
http://www.baumtools.com/pdf/bmw_catalog_2008-sm.pdf.

Type in Adobe Acrobat Reader's search text box the keyword "wiper".

Bulldog13,

If you go to http://www.baumtools.com, click on the "Products" button on the left, select "BMW" from the "Select the Manufacturer" drop down box, and select a specific area under the "Select a Repair Group" drop down box, you can access other Adobe Acrobat catalogs.

I have purchased from Baum Tools in the past and it is a first rate company. I highly recommend them.

When looking for an oem tool you may want to try the dealers parts department. Yea it won't be chaep but it will be the right tool for the job. I bought a elecrical crimp tool and probe set from BMW 20 some years ago. That was the BEST tool I've ever used for making factory harness repairs and replacing connectors. The probes duplicated every style connector used on their cars. Again awesome. Sadly I loaned my crimpers to a guy who moved away that weekend and hasn't been seen since. I will buy another pair.

what year and model bmw? as im having a hard time understanding what you are trying to do.

if it is an older car that the back half of the engine bay/firewall needs to come apart to access stuff i can tell you how to cheat and not pull the engine bay apart and still swap motors.

I only know of wiper arms that you remove a Cap then remove the nut holding them on or the type you uses a puller which I use a battery post puller.

Teeheehee.. wiper arm puller.

I put the wipers in the upright (blade change) position, grab the arm and rock it gently back and forth. Not the side to side like the way the hingle swivels, back and forth towards me, standing in front of the car.

Never failed me yet.

Thanks, Im pretty sure that "Pozi" looks about right..Its a 2003 Z4 Roadster...I was thinking of trying a small gear puller on the arms.My manual says to pry under the arm with a flat blade screwdriver, but Im trying to not wreck anything.I'll check out the site.Im trying to remove the wiper motor..its been stopping intermittently and I need to figure out the problem.I've been told from a Bimmer board that grease from the gears gets into the electrical contact points and causes it to fail.

I get a lot of my BMW special tools from zdmak.com. If you search for 'wiper' there, you'll see two options. The more expensive option is the BMW tool that works well on my Z3M. If the Z4 is similar, I would be wary of prying... the connection is tapered and can be _very_ snug.
