I was told to check out your build since I will be building a 30X30. I like your layout. Can you post pics of the inside with vehicles inside? I'd like to see an entire side front to back. This way I can see how much room you have infront and behind your vehiles while they are parked inside.

Thanks.

I think those views would be very useful as well.

So far, I love it. No real complaints. As long as you're not going to be **** about scratches, you should be fine. It does scratch easily, but again, it's easy to see since the beginning surface is virtually a mirror finish. I haven't tried to wail on it and I don't plan to, although I have banged on it a little with no damages. It's 1/16" thick, so it's fairly beefy. It cleans up super easy as you would expect. I'm not afraid to get anything on it - brake fluid, ATF, oil, water, even gasket remover - it just wipes right up. Another plus I found out about the other day... You can write on it with a Sharpie or pencil. I use the far end near the door to write notes for myself so I see them before I leave. I was taking some measurements another day and wrote down the calculation right next to my work space. When I was done, I just took some brake cleaner and wiped it away.

They are pricey as tops go, but I feel they will last a lifetime.

Now that this post is about to have it's 8th birthday (posted December 2006) - does this still hold true? I cannot think of a reason why it wouldn't - but I'm looking to do a stainless (but perhaps galv because of price) top for my workbenches after being really unimpressed with pine (not surprising given it's a soft wood) and interested in your long-term usage thoughts.

Yep, still holds true. Happy with my purchase.

Absolutely beautiful! Thank you for chronicling this with such great pictures. I'm also a BMW guy (E90 335i daily, E36 track car). My dream is to one day build a house with the same set up as you - regular garage to keep the wife happy and dry on rainy days and a REAL garage like yours, complete with a lift. I'm absolutely drooling - very nicely done!

Lesson 1: Don't host copies of pictures you want to stay on the forum somewhere other than the forum. Remember when Photobucket ruined millions of forum threads in an attempt to extort $400 from users who trusted them?

Lesson 2: Always save sites and pages you think are valuable in the Internet Archive Wayback Machine: https://web.archive.org/ (And throw a few bucks their way to help them out, if you can.) Of course, you can save the page yourself on your own machine, but that won't help others who might find it useful in the future.

Some of the pictures and pages are on the Internet Archive copy of this thread. By going back-and-forth on the timeline, you may be able to find them all:

Thanks bro. I should go back and fix things. Have the photos locally but piecing things together is easier with your above links. Was just a huge undertaking…
