Finally making some progress. Permit in hand and trees cleared. Building a 34' x 80' x 16' pole barn. Will be primarily for for boat storage and maintenance. Garage doors on the 34' ends, 2-12'x 14' doors on one end and one on the other for drive through lengthwise. Single garage door end will have a 8' x 16' porch with man door and double window for the 16' x 24' corner office. 5/12 pitch with scissor trusses. Had to compromise on the width due to the narrow field access to my property. Pictures coming soon.

I like all boats but my main passion is offshore performance boats. Just traded my '40 MTI on a '39 Cig TopFish. Wanted a more family friendly boat for my little guy to enjoy. Also have a Pioneer center console, a 19' Cole Flatbottom and a few old runabouts. Building is at my river cottage on the Chesapeake Bay, thanks.

KILLER!, by chance are you opposed to adopting a 50yr old child??.

LOL, we were avid boaters for 20 years. Sold my last one a couple years ago as we just didn't have time anymore and the kids were busy with their schedules. I have a bud that spends the entire summer on his 52ft Hat on the bay. He loves it, one of these days I need to see what that's like.

It's been slow going but finally a little bit of progress. Clearing is done and the base graded and leveled. Footing holes are in and hopefully the poles will be set next week. This should start moving along now.

Progress has been slow. Finally have the walls and roof on. Meter base, disconnect and load center passed inspection yesterday. Power company has been notfied and should have power within 2 weeks. They need to up grade from 200amp that sevices the house to a 400 amp transformer and burry 200' of line to the barn. Bathroom rough in done and now final grading and concrete can be done. Plan is to get the grading and rebar in place so we can pour as soon as some warm weather arrives and hang the garage doors. Ready to get it weather tight and make some progress on the inside.

What kind of boats do you have. Is that a little Parker on the side? 5yrs ago I sold my last boat. Actually my dad and I went in on it together so "we" sold it. 1989 52' Hatteras convertible with 12-71TI's. A tad under powered, but gave us a few years of enjoyment. When my daughter came along my free time disappeared and so did the boat.

Prior to the hatt we had a 37 betram 1988 and before that a 33' egg harbor. We were looking for a 48' egg when we found the hatteras. I love the woodwork and lines of the older eggs.

You have a nice collection past/present. Best of luck with boats and the garage build. Looks awsome.

Concrete is done, meter base and panel passed so we have power.
I have been running electrical inside, lights roughed in and most outlets run.
Builders says "garage doors and ceiling will be done next week". of course, I've heard that before;)

And my helper...

'The Boats of Garage Jounal'?

Wow---nice and roomy.

I know I'm not the only one thinks that garages aren't just for cars! Here's my 14' wood daysailer I built in my basement and garage from prints from WoodenBoat Magazine. It's a blast, but I get tired of paying storage fees and currently have it up for sale.

High-grade Marine plywood (no voids), ash trim, West System epoxy products.

Built a 16' cedar strip kayak there too!

Builder hung the doors and finished up my punch list. Had the soil tested and drain field staked today. Will have a full bath and shop sink. Now I can get busy on the inside.
