boat bottom paint for floors

Hi, im working on an industrial job. The painter is painting the concrete floors with a boat bottom paint.
All i know is the painter swore by it.
The paint was dry after a day, and we drove lifts and draged machinery over the boat painted floors. And nothing happend to the finish.
I dont remember the brand name, but the cans said boat bottom paint. I asked the painter some ?s but he was too busy.
Ive never hered of this done before, so any input?

I would say it probably won't have barnacles growing on it.

I would guess that it might be very slick when wet or oily. One of the reasons to paint a boat bottom besides corrosion protection if metal is friction reduction.

I don't know much, except that it usually contains algaecides to keep from fowling. There's several different kinds, and some are epoxy based. I wouldn't go out to get boat bottom paint for my garage floor, but I probably would use a can your painter gave me lol. When spending MY money for paint, I tend to stick with applications that the product was designed for.

Whatever it is it works great. I made the post to see if anyone else had experience.

Myself have used epoxy with the whole 9 yards of prep. and dragging a jack with wight acros the floor wil leave a mark.

The place where im working is, were moving heavy equipment, some 15k..dosent leave a mark.

I might go for deck paint, but bottom paint could well be toxic. Not sure you want tributyl tin around your shop.

Chances are this wasn't ablative or anti-growth paint. I'm betting it was a 2-part epoxy, like Unepoxy or Awlgrip. Its very durable, and doesn't wear. Its also very slippery and expensive.

I highly doubt he is painting the floors with anti fouling paint, boat deck epoxy yes, its what I use for everything virtually indestructable, think of the hell a boat floor goes through

most bottom paints that I know are engineered to wear away over time to keep barnacles and slime from sticking? Toxic too

Most bottom paint is what's known as ablative paint and has copper in it and is damn expensive. Speedboats have a gel coat paint from the factory so again this would not be a proper paint for a garage floor. Top deck paint is the tough epoxy stuff, as posted try interlux or awlgrip in a google search for a good start.
