Have been looking at using boat cleats for tying off something in my office/shop for a bit and was curious if anybody has any projects they've done with them beyond their usual purpose.

Thought they were used in old theatres for basically everything like lights and curtains already and I like the idea of having something hanging and being able to adjust the angle or height using a pulley system with the cleats as tie offs.

Not just for tying off.
My father used small cleats for door and drawer pulls at his beach house. I’ll grab pics tomorrow.

I have three 55 gallon drums on a wooden platform behind my shop for rain catchment. I use cleats to tie the drums off to the platform so the wind doesn't blow them around when they're empty.

I've done the drawer pull thing, they look very nautical but, guaranteed to snag your pocket, belt loop or anything else loose. ripped more than one pair of pants that way.
