I have had this thing sitting on a pallet for quite a while, maybe a year and a half?

Any way I finally got around to researching it and deciding what to do with it. It is a cool old machine and needs to be used. First problem is the 3 phase motor. I don't have 3 phase in my shop. But I do have a converter, so maybe .....

Any way It seems to be from around 1940. There are only a couple of working examples I traced but the owners seem more than happy with performance. So I might just see if I can get it up and running. I just wonder if I will get enough power from a converter rather than real 3 phase.

I am off to sea again for a couple of weeks so it won't be an immediate job but think I might prioritize it when I get home again. She weighs in at around 5-600 pounds as you see her so a working stand will have to be "healthy".

The weight came from other records on the internet.
12" is the width and I believe it can go to about 5 or 6" thick. I found a use on vintage machinery that was still using his a couple of years ago and I hope to contact him at some point for more info. I have also tracked down a catalog from Cameron and Barkley from 1941 which may have some info. It, the catalog that is, is in S Carolina.

If it is only a 2-3hp motor you should be able to substitute a 240V single phase motor. You can probably sell the 3 phase motor and come close to breaking even !

That's a possibility. But it's direct drive and I have not yet looked at how it mounts and such.
