well its in the house not the garage, but still
have a natural gas boiler, a small trane unit installed per paperwork in 2008. since i bought this home 3 years ago it has been an issue with one thing or another. replaced heat pump, it has an on/off switch on it that went bad and now the latest-it kept staying on until it got so hot it would steam off.
forget parts-plumber and i discovered they dont make them as the unit is from home depot and likely a specialty built for them. all the supply houses he called told him good luck. we started by replacing the old fill valve, expansion tank, some piping and such. thing still steamed up and wouldnt shut down. the sensors he couldnt locate at any supply so he came up with the idea to install an aquastat (sp) and we set it for 180 and put a new gauge on everything since that failed too. unit has been running properly since, holding pressure of 12psi and 180F.
issue now is i have had this thing on and set the thermostat to 77F since about 8pm last night. the interior temp of the house will not go over 71F. it is approx 30F overnight here. before the boiler was having issues, it easily got the inside temp to 75F or higher in no time. seems like now it just wont keep up. UNLESS it was malfunctioning for some time (a year at least???) and that was why. I mean it should have heated the interior temps to at least 72-74F id think by now.
Unit is working fine, turns on and off by thermostat and such. idk if the external aquastat is causing an issue here. only thing i can think of is the probe in the well is causing the unit to kick off sooner and thus not run it long enough?
gonna call the plumber later today but I figured maybe someone here has an idea. i suppose at worst its just so cold that no matter what i do it aint keeping up now that its running properly. i had an hvac co come and fix this thing previously (this time was a friend of a friend) and they had explained to me the unit was literally JUST big enough at best to heat the house as it was to small really.
