I am planning the heating system for my shop...

http://garagejournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=78719

to give some specs;

30 X 45 building with 16' ceilings
3 zones of 5/8" PEX
1 1/2" foam under the pad for insulation
R20 in 2 X 6 wall insulation
R50 attic blown in insulation

the company I am talking to suggests a 12kw boiler, but my home of similar square footage, using the boiler for in floor heat, air heat and hot water heat is only running a 9kw. I am wondering if the 9kw would suffice for my shop as well?!!?

A boiler size (output) can only be determined by first performing a heat load analysis. Since a steel building usually is tighter with less window exposure, the loads are often smaller than a similar size house.
