Bio diesel is known for really cleaning the fuel systems of trucks that run it so I imagine it would do the same to a home heat system. This becomes a problem because you will plug up the filter, pump screen and nozzle many times before the system is fully cleans out. The pump screen can be cleaned but usually have to replace the gaskit some have an oring. The nozzle and filter would just need replaced, and I would expect to have to do this once a week, normally done once a season.

The bio may cause some swelling problems with any rubber parts in the system, mainly the gasket in the filter housing, bio compatible gaskets are available.

I also suggest having a compatant HVAC tech that is well schooled in both oil and hydronic heat give the complete system a good once over before you buy, the average home inspector will not have much knowledge and could miss something that could cost big bucks down the road.

I did some research on BIO when I owned a diesel RV.
One thing I found was that most using it over the road would start on normal fuel, then switch to BIO while running down the road. I would think that would be hard to do with a home heating system because you are not there to monitor it?
