How do you tell if it's a copy?

Keep seeing the same stuff on marketplace for $2-$10 with 50-300 in stock and shipping at $15-$45 and assumed they're copies but I don't know of any actual visible tales.

I bet when you got the actual one in hand, you'd know. That picture is almost certainly stolen from Knipex.

If it's too good to be true...

I'm going to guess the $8.48 selling price is a huge clue.
That's obvious on Temu but there's vendors on marketplace and at outdoor flea markets/pop ups asking the same price range.

They even come in the plastics like at the store at the physical vendors. They might be legit though too since they all have a trailer load of new DeWalt and Milwaukee power tools and batteries. Plus the power tools are at 30% or less of retail too.

Point is there's potentially copies already in the USA in bulk(plus potentially power tools but I know one guy was legit since he got arrested for trafficking stolen goods) and they might be in copies of the retail packaging too so flaws or errors would be the only way to tell.

Trying to figure out what BOLO means…

Be on the lookout?
Yes. It's a law enforcement term. Remember when on TV & in movies where they would say "issue an APB"? Pretty much the same thing except it's BOLO now. Well I'm not a LEO so I'm sure someone knows better than me.

What is Temu? I've been hearing about it often lately. Is it like aliexpress or banggood? Seems to me like it is. I buy stuff from aliexpress sometimes but never banggood. Doubt I will buy anything from Temu.

Not to be "that guy" but the acronym should then either be BOTL or BOL. Lookout is one word.

Never heard of it until a month or so ago. They have an annoying pop up ad in my Instagram feed that makes it nearly impossible to close and always brings me to the storefront.

I'll never buy anything off Temu merely based on this annoying experience, lol.

Lol, I hear ya & I agree. Many things in the English language & us Americans just don't make sense. I guess BOLO is just easier to say?

There's a guy on a machining forum I frequent who refuses to use No. as the abbreviation for number. He always uses Nr. or something like that.

Edit: Like Knipex, I know it's supposed to be pronounced kuh-nipex but I still say nipex in person. My friends don't know that but I'm sure I will run into someone one day who will try to correct me. "Yeah yeah, don't try to school me with your kuh-nowledge"! :D

The wife has been filling the mailbox with Temu junk lately. Seems like everything is a dollar and the USPS pays 100% of the postage from China. It's all pretty much ****. Fine for a one time use usually.

As seen Temu, be vigilant and practice due diligence.

I'm sure the thing you get in the mail will not have Knipex on the handle. I've been tempted to order a few cheap tools from Temu, just to see what comes in the mail. I suspect that the tools they sell are made by the same factories that make the tools you see on Amazon with weird brand names, all at low prices, and all looking identical. They're probably the same tools that are sold here with names like Great Neck or other low-price tool brands. The factory makes those with those brands, and then makes a bunch more that are unbranded or have some other name on them. Since there's a couple fewer middlemen, Temu sells them way cheap.

That's my guess anyhow. I don't know when I'll make a test order, but I'm planning to pretty soon. It's not a lot of money, so there's little to lose, and it would be interesting to look at some of those knockoff tools.
