Can a floor be finished with bond tite 1101? I seen some progress picks on a drivinhards floor where the bond tite itself looked real good. I would be real happy with a shiny finish like that.

Sure... many people prefer the look of just a clear.

While most floors can be done in one coat it is best to plan on doing it in 2 coats. The basic reason is that you just don't know how much hydrostatic pressure your floor has. If your floor has alot of hydrostatic pressure it can blow bubbles in the first coat of the BondTite 1101. So, if that happens you simply break them and apply the second coat.

Done.

There was even one job that called for 5 layers of BondTite 1101. A primer coat , then three coats, each with DecoFlakes, then a final clear coat. The 3 layers with DecoFlakes were to add depth and give the entire floor a 3D look. Pretty neat effect.

I was thinking while doing mine, it would be really sweet to grind the floor down to the aggregate, then seal it with bondtite. Or maybe stain it your desired tone, then seal it. With the smooth aggregate, it would look very nice.

Maybe I'll try that in the house garage :)

Not a bad idea at all. Would be even better if you could toss in some small decorative stones into the the concrete mixer before it pours or just into the top layer of the concrete for that matter. You could mix in any number of different colored stones grind it down till they show up nice a pretty.

another trick- if you like the brown look on concrete, scatter the entire surface with Ironite fertilizer and a some salt- I used Kosher salt. Wet it down, let it sit for a while, then wash it off. The iron content rusts, staining the concrete. I did this on our boring patio slab several years ago- mad a huge difference.

Then, a couple coats of bondtite will make it look COOL.

Do you have any pictures of your patio, because that does sound interesting.

That does sound like it would make a nice pattern in some old concrete that needed a new look.

I was thinking some small fish tank gravel in different colors tossed and troweled just below the surface of fresh concrete, Then ground, sanded and polished would look nice.

Think I may need to break the rules this time... This job was done by a contractor who uses Wolverine Coatings for all his large floors, and even for smaller jobs, as was this one. But he generally doesn't take pictures of his work, even this one, to him it's just another day in the office.

I don't know how it would even photograph, the stereoscopic effect probably won't show, unless you all wear those red/blue 3D glasses.

This might be a good place to point out that Wolverine has dozens of various body coats, some pretty esoteric and pricey, but almost all their systems use BondTite 1101 as the prime coat, which is arguably the most critical coating.
