Bonding CATV distribution and gas/water main

I’m adding a bonding wire from a Coax distribution center and am planning on using some #6 black THNN/THWN I have laying around. It will run through or along the side of the basement joists. Since it will pass by the gas main I plan on bonding to the gas pipe using a layin clamp. Two questions, any reason I can’t split bolt it to the ground conductor to the water main and any problem with my plan?

It’s 200 amp service and I have 2 ground rods with a #6 stranded bare copper to the rods and another to the water main at the meter from the main panel.

From my research #10 is sufficient for the coax, but I understand bonding the gas main is best practice and I have the 6.

Thanks for your help,

Dan

Your first choice should be to bond to the #6 coppers that comes out of your meter pan or panel. The goal is to make you ground as short as possible and shorter than your first outlet.
If you choose to ground to water then you need to bond within 5 ft of the main water bond.

I would never bond to gas as you coax is a low voltage system and under the right circumstances you could have voltage or arching on coax.

This is what I do for a living. Cable tech
