What is so special about these wrenches?

nothing. just ask krusty! they are not snap-on or any truck brand so they can't be any good. send them to me and i will forward the ones that do not measure up to krusty for proper disposal.
truthfully, the look, feel and finish of them is very nice. let's just say that they just seem "right". i only have a matco set that was made by bonney and a bonney made john deere wrench. to me they are much more pleasant to use than my s-o or mac. i really think my sk made craftsman pros are also very nice and rank up there. a lot of it is personal opinion as all the ones i mentioned are damn nice wrenchs.

What's special about em? What remains in tools today from Bonney are a representation of a by-gone era. An era in America's not so distant history when many tool companies here in the USA manufactured some of the best hand tools in the world, made them readily available and often sold at fair reasonable prices. Bonney was among those quality tool brands.
An era in this country that will likely never be repeated again.

For me it's that Bonney was the tools used by my dad when he was growing up many, many years ago. Sentimental reason's I guess.

the matco are my old standard and the bonney are the nearly new metric with a couple comparison shots.
the metric are 6 point 10,11,13,14,17 and 19. the standard are 3/8 - 3/4 twelve point. the comparison is the 10 - 3/8 and 19-3/4.

bull, the cman pros and and my superchrome standard length are almost identical except for length. both are very nice and have never had an issue with either. if i recall cman also had a standard length pro for a very short time. i would venture to say they would be identical as are the older cman pros and the long superkrome. i think the same could be said for the original craftsman stubbies.

Right you are on the original cman stubbies, sk. They are really sk's and that's why I bought them. I have both metric and sae and they are my goto's for tight areas. Too bad Sears went to those crappy raised-panel ones later on. All I can say is "what were they thinking?"

I have a set of Bonney open end metrics.
They do feel good. They look good. And they are heavy.
One of the "old timers" in the shop picked one up once and said "damn, that's a heavy wrench".

I don't recall the full scope of Bonney's history, but when they were Bonney Utica under either Kelsey-Hayes or The Triangle Corporation in the 60's, they patented their Loc-Rite profile--a profile that's very similar to SO's patented flank-drive system. What makes them special, in my opinion, is that they came up with that profile even before SO did.
OK - It gets confusing since different companies have different defintions of Long and X-Long.
I was wondering if they made the equivalent to Cornwell, Matco X-Long which is the same as the Snap-On Long....which are longer than the Snap-On Standard / Cman Pro lengths.

My former shop foreman had quite a few Bonney wrenches that he bought off an S-K truck. I used them a few times and liked them. I especially liked the angle wrenches that were pretty thin like a tappet wrench, they were great for hydraulic fitting. Same goes for the large (up to 2") crowsfeet he had. My Matco crowsfeet are too bulky for some tight places. And if it wasn't a tight place, I wouldn't be using a crowsfoot!

Wright tools is very similar to the bonneys. American made with American steel also!

i have noticed a similar beam profile, too bad the don't offer long pattern wrenches.
