I thought that the rounded/square style of the wrenches; was kinda nice.... are the Bonneys a matte finish? The Matco's were highly polished chorme!

The finish is matte but those matco's were prone to chrome chipping.

That's a "You ****!"

Picked up a Bonney myself today like that for a buck (1/2") - not NOS though. Two 3/8" ratchets as well - a Bonney and a Powr-Kraft (Thorsen) - for another $4.50.

When I run across bonneys they are trashed every time until today and I was not going to pass on these for $20.00!!

Those Bonney's are some of the finest balanced wrenches ever made. In my opinion, they are the finest combo wrenches ever produced by man. They're almost like surgeons instruments. Sadly for me, I only have one 1/2" example of these tools, but I treasure it like no other.

They did make good tools sorry that they are gone, all the Bonney wrenches I have are real shinny I have never seen a matte finnish in this style.

Very nice. I am slightly jealous. Those are some of the most common sizes I use. 11/16, 13/16, and 15/16 are common hydraulic fitting sizes for me. 3/4 is very common for bolts, and 7/8 is used for some other fittings as well as track adjusters on dozers. A few guys at work have the Matco versions of those, very comfortable to use. Good deal.

These seem to be beefier than the polished ones, maybe cause they are not polished???

I wonder if they made them for Mac too. They look the same as the metric Mac ones that I have (That I'm trying to build a set of ).

they never made wrenches for MAC..........wrenches were one of the things mechanic's tool and forge made. the beams are very different, mac are square and bonney are rounded.

I really like Mac wrenches. I might even like the square beams a bit better than Bonney. I can't believe I'm saying that. I have very few Mac wrenches these days. I love the Bonney combination wrenches, though, and have two sets of the Matco version plus another 15-20. They are great wrenches, and they are much more comfortable than the Snap On wrenches. My Snap On wrenches cut into your hand more.

I was at a small local flea market today and had to take this John Deere home with me.

I searched on this message board under John Deere and this seemed to be the best thread for my pictures.

I know nothing about Deere branded tools. Some people say Williams. Some say Bonney. To me the open end is a Mac style and the closed end is Snap-On/Wright style.

It has TY3513 on it. Anyone know if that is a part number used by the manufacturer, or just Deere?

That one is a Bonney for sure, the high polish Bonney stuff looked way different that almost everyone else out there. Bonny plating always has an almost grayish blue hue to the color. That wrench has that color. Totally different than high polish truck brands.

The Deere is polished. I don't have a Bonney to compare it to. But in looking at pictures of Bonneys it does appear to be a Bonney. Too bad Bonney is gone.

I thought my Protos were long. The Deere is a bit longer than Proto, and a bit shorter than Craftsman long pattern.

Today at another flea market I found a Harley. Does not look like a Bonney to me. In fact, in the 3rd picture you can see what looks like a Snap-On date code for 2002.

Did I dream it or did someone say Williams was using Snap-On date codes?

4th picture shows the Harley is longer than my Proto and Craftsman long patterns.

I worked at a Deere dealer for a while in the 70's and have these Deere/Bonney tools. The wrench set was given to me as a "going away" gift when I left for bigger and better things. The 3/4 ratchet I hauled out of the dumpster. The warranty tools were held for inspection by the Deere district rep, after he looked at them he was to destroy them and discard, how was he going to destroy a 3/4 ratchet that only had a broken snap ring? It is pictured with a 3/8 ratchet that I'm not sure how I got, think it happen to be in my tool box when I left. :)

Today it was a International. Per the logo I guess it is International Harverster. Or maybe Ihop pancakes.

If the IH was made by Bonney then it is a lower end tool.

Could be from Wright. The few IH ratchets I've seen have been Wrights - and they go for crazy prices.

Don't even bother collecting them, they're too hard to find to complete a set. I'll do you a favor and take them off your hands for what you paid for them, but only this one time, unless you find some more, then that will be the last time.

The Bonney beams were the most comfortable of any wrench made - why other manufacturers don't do the same is beyond me.

No kiddin'. I stumbled across my first set of full polished ones years ago, and at the time didn't consider them on par with the truck brands, but they quickly became my favorite.

Someone on Papawswrench also thought the International was a Wright. So I looked at AA for a Wright picture, and the International sure looks the same as an old Wrignt.
