Has anyone used a bonus room trusses with dormers. I am spanning 42' and already have a price for the trusses. room width is 16' with 7' clear span for the full width of the room. the roof is an 8 pitch. Wife now would like to have a couple of dormers installed to break the roof line a little bit. I plan on doing all the work myself but did not know how they do the framing when you install dormers. I just don't want to be a pain in the *** at the lumber yard by trying to get all different types of quotes.

do they usually double up on trusses that support the dormer and then use conventional framing to span between the trusses for the floor and the roof section between the truss span?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Not positive, but I think you double the trusses on each side of the dormers, and run 2xs between the doubled trusses with joist hangers on each side. I would think the width of the dormers makes a huge difference in how you frame them. My theory is for a window sized dormer.
