Hi, I was wondering if anyone had any good suggestion on books on auto repair and learning the electrical components of vehicles. Please don't respond with pick up a chilton or haynes manual. Thanks much appreciated

Factory service manuals have tons of info. Also, just basic electrical theory books are helpful. Look for troubleshooting type books too.

I would recommend this book for troubleshooting automotive electrical issues:
"How to Diagnose and Repair Automotive Electrical Systems"

Go on youtube and type in Load pro or Dan Sullivan. Lots of videos on car/ Semi truck electrical troubleshooting. Also teaching auto technicians basic electricity.

While I was in tech school we used almost nothing but those "Tomorrows Technician" Natef certified text books for everything from electrical to drivetrains and I feel they were pretty good. They always had a good balance of tech speak to pictures and real world examples. They will give you an excellent foundation to build off of for specific brands or scenarios.

Honestly, your best bet is to try to see if you can get the training module books for the specific manufacturer you are interested in. That book for Subaru is what got me dedicated to electrical diagnosis.
