Who knows of any books for youth, my 11 yr old grandson, to give him some insight of proper tool usage? I am moving and won't be close to where he lives?

There are some woodworking magazines that will offer a "tips and Techniques" book with a subscription.

You might also want to google Time-Life books

You could buy old trade school books. I recently bought one on oxy/acetylene welding, cutting, etc. It was literally brand new, just a few years old.

For a history of tools, I would recommend two books by Eric Sloane.

Museum of Early American Tools
https://www.amazon.com/Museum-Early-American-Tools-Americana/dp/0486425606/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1481483418&sr=8-2&keywords=eric+sloane+tools

and
Reverence for Wood
https://www.amazon.com/Reverence-Wood-Eric-Sloane/dp/0486433943/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1481483465&sr=8-3&keywords=eric+sloane+tools

These two books and a few others first sparked my interest to explore working with tools in the old ways. This led to further explorations on ways that I could work with my hands.

Even if they don't get his imagination going, both are great reference books when looking at old tools.
