When I was teaching adult education I would drag out my 1000 some page machinists handbook plus old engineering books when I went to school. I was driving home the point that what they were trying to learn (blueprint reading) was nothing new. The books you found, if written in a way YOU can understand them are still relevant today. Sadly, they have no value to most and they mistakenly think they will get accurate info from the internet. Enjoy!

God, the engineers coming out of college can't even read blueprints. What is the world coming to?

Great score! I love old reference books.

As I've heard it said recently, employers value "cheap" over "experience" these days. And if you can't do it on an app, then most everyone today isn't interested.

Their loss is all I can say!

My wife found this at a bookstore in a small town about an hour northeast of Toronto on Saturday, for $9.95. She knew I'd be interested, and when she saw what they were going for on Amazon, she grabbed it. First published in 1982, now I want that edition!

Years-ago, I picked up this edition of Popular Mechanics, February 1953. It's probably one of the most-interesting months I've seen.

https://picclick.com/Popular-Mechan...Auto-Supplement-Motorcycles-123866606569.html

Just look at the variety of articles, and those illustrations! And pictures! New cars for 1953, Motorcycles. The Pan-American road race through Mexico! The main reason I bought it, an article on titanium.

Currently selling on amazon for $22.49.

Did you mean the Machinery's Handbook?

Sorry, I always like correcting teachers...… :bounce:

By golly you are right! I went downstairs to see for myself and it is machinery’s handbook. And it’s 2500 pages long if you include the index. Both me and my son married English teachers, we are the engineers, so we are used to being corrected for word details. Thanks!

You mean

"Both my son and I married English teachers ..."

:lol_hitti

Go ask your English teachers, and the "I" versus "me" subjective versus objective pronouns.

Hahaha it's all good just a little friendly ball busting. Having an English major is a great help. I once hired a girl to be my right hand and she had a masters in English and from then on my emails were absolute works of art. The only downside was I knew she would end up getting a better job in the company.

I always buy those. I think the earliest I have are 10 & 11th editions.

I also collect Marks Mechanical Enginners Handbooks (4th & 6th Ed) & American Machinists Handbooks (7th Ed)

About 10 years ago, they published an accurate replica of the first edition. I bought a copy, and it came in a nice box.
