I think my grandfather felt like he got taken by an electrician back in the day because after he passed my father and I were cleaning up his place and there were dozens of these and extension cord run everywhere, including behind walls! Surprised there wasn’t a fire!

Yea! And I think I even paid him in beer, or wait was that just me . Hell I can't remember that night .

I do have a couple of them more so just for convenience. I'm usually alone so I don't pull any more than one item off of a given plug at a time, I just don't like constantly switching cords.

My grandma sent me a text asking if I could make her a playing card holder for some new game she has been playing with the ladies at the community center. She sent me a screen shot of some cheapo Amazon card holder and said I'd rather pay you than buy this. . Grandma your not paying me. Couple beers, few free minutes. Scrap, stain, router, seal, paint, sand, not necessarily all in that order. She's gonna be the coolest G'ma rocking her custom name card holder. I put her last name on it so they all know who they got beat by! .

Here is the new switch. It's 37" behind the bench top so no little arms can even come close to reaching it.

I may add a paddle or button type emergency stop done under the bench that can be hit with my knee later but for the moment I just wanted to get it functional again. I have a project coming up that it is needed for. I usually use it for stop block type repetitive cutting so it doesn't get a ton of cycling, it's usually on for a few minutes or off.

I can reach the switch in it's location fairly easily. In an emergency it's not the most convenient but I'm pretty procedural and methodical in its use.

I got #2 and #3 coats of paint on the hall bench today. Cleaned up. All I need to do is mount my hooks.

A paddle safety switch is a good thing. I mounted one on the front of my Shopsmith many years ago. Fortunately, haven't had to use it in an emergency.

We had some friends from Georgia stop by for a "layover" at our house for lunch and for the kids to play and stretch their legs on the way to Michigan. The kids had a blast and are already talking about getting sent to camp at each other's houses over the summer lol.

After that I crossed one item off. I hate seeing cords. I moved an outlet up to behind the TV so I didn't have to look at the TV cord anymore.





After that I picked another chore that hasn't been done in a while and needed to get done.

Nothing worse than a dirty deck........

So I figured it was time to take care of it.



After that I made some dinner for the kids and took them to VBS. Got home from VBS and got all ready for bed, kids in bed, packed up some veggies, chips, fruits, gonna throw some quick PB&Js and Turkey sandwiches together in the morning and off to the lake! It's supposed to be a hot one, heat advisory, so put my A in the water!

Got home from the lake and this was sitting on the front porch waiting for me.

I am going to run it in the barn into a 275g IBC tote. Capable of 17 gallons per day which I can use to help offset water usage and fill chicken water, keep troughs topped off etc.

Hahaha. It's actually not bad today. We are at 90dg with 55%.

Before I started mowing I fired up the new dehumidifier in the barn. So far it's been running for about 2 hours and 15 minutes and has taken the barn from 80% to 71%.

I plugged in the dehumidifier in the barn right at about 7pm last night. It was flashing 80/81% when I plugged it in and turned it on. This morning as of 9:15am we are showing 65% and counting. Feels much better in here already. I'm gonna try and get it to about 45/50 and see how much it cycles to keep it steady around that point.

And almost forgot. My thermostat shipped this morning so once I get that I can hang it and have a controller down on the wall.

Today's tools. Not a bad view from the office today. Trying to get all the fence lines pulled back a little bit that way tonight while the kids are at VBS I can brush chop. Not the corn, not bush hogging the corn. That's just next door.

After the kids went down I started building a shelf for the dehumidifier. Trying to build it a bit stout since the unit is 108lbs.

Finished my tree stand dehumidifier shelf lol. Not the prettiest thing I've ever built but it will do its job. It was a mixture of scrap vs had to buy. It cost me (1) 2x6, (1) 2x4 and (1) 4x4. Screws, 3/4 subfloor, 4x4 scraps for the post graph all that stuff was on hand. Not to bad for a roughly $24 solution.

Now to get the #100 beast up there.......

I also grabbed a couple cans of large gap spray foam and trimmed out one of the big swinging doors and got it sealed up way better. The header is 3 stacked 2x6s but for some reason they didn't built it solid. It's 2 solid 2x6s sandwiching (if that's a word, if not, it is now) 4 pieces of 2x6. So the way they built it left 3 roughly 14"x1.5" gaps. So I enclosed the bottom on the back side of the door with some 1/4 just to use as backer rod basically and just foamed the entire thing.

This door leads back into an enclosed lean-to that is not insulated. But the interior wall that is behind and to the left of that door which the barn and the lean share is insulated so this door is/was the "weakest point".
