Mrs couldn't back the trailer if her life depended on it. She is a very good boat driver, so I would drop her and young daughter in the lake and went up the hill to trailer parking. I was about 50 yards from the boat When Mrs started yelling for me to get the trailer, "we're taking on water!!" Immediately, I knew that I had left the plug out of the boat from our previous outing. Mrs had invited another family to go with us and their kids life ambition was to fill our boat with sand. Yeah, they are on the never again list. Back to the boat plug ... I knew exactly where the plug was and by looking at the boat sitting in the water, knew it was no big deal. I told her not to worry, I got it, and she settled down, Then I added the food comment and set her off. By that time, I was in the boat, located the plug and put it in the boat. Boat probably had 40-50 gallons of water, no big deal, get out of the no wake zone, get boat on plane, pull the plug and the vacuum ***** the water right out of the boat. Mrs had trouble with this concept, given that the water had just come in, not OUT.
finally got her settled down and ran the water out

Haha that's a good one.

My wife because of the horses can drive a trailer forwards very well, but backwards ehhh that's another story. So I always back in, then we switch. I drive the boat while she goes and parks and then I pick her up at the dock. Our pontoon with just the way it's made, motor size etc without any front passengers kind of just naturally sits nose high. The first time we went out this year my son (4 years old at the time) was next to me (driver's seat), so behind the midline and he kind of fealt that lean with the whole bow being totally empty. He starts screaming at the boat ramp "we're sinking, we're sinking", while the whole time I'm obviously yelling "no we're not, no we're not", he was very persistent "yes we are yes we are, we're sinking". It was a certain type of show for the onlookers to say the least

Left my son at the lake with my cousin and took the two girls to each of their soccer games this afternoon.

Then headed back to the lake for dinner and to watch my uncle's band play.

I left the plug out once. Saw the boat spraying water out the side from the bilge as I was walking down to the boat. Had to jump in at the dock and dive under the swim platform to get the plug in. Got all the water pumped out and made sure that didnt happen anymore.

We had the bilge plug fall out of my first boat, a 15'9" runabout with a 115 Merc. We were on the Willamette river in Portland, and using Ross Island as a place to have everyone lounge and do standing starts waterskiing. The bilge plug on this particular boat was put in from the exterior of the bilge, not from inside.
We had a plastic bag from somewhere, and found a stick about the right size to plug the hole. I used the same suction method as above to get the bilge emptied, then we jammed the stick with the plastic bag in the bilge plug hole. We were able to get everyone back to the dock and the boat on the trailer with this little bit of redneck engineering!
Needless to say, from that point forward, I always had a spare bilge plug in the boat, just in case!

I lived in Page, AZ from 1975-1993, even managed to graduate from Page High! As a young twenty something one of the highlights of every summer was Monsoon Season. Most every afternoon at or near 3:00 from the 4th of July till Labor Day weekend the best place to drink a couple beers and watch the show was at the top of the Wahweap Launch Ramp! Saw a wife get so pissed at her husband who was yelling at her to back the boat trailer into the lake deeper, straighter, not that deep, etc, that she finally jumped out of the truck and started walking up the ramp…. without putting the truck into park or setting the brake! Truck and trailer rolled right into the lake and underneath the husband! And when there was a monsoon the real show began! Back in the 80’s it was so much fun to watch the mayhem at the launch ramp even the Rangers would sit and watch. They just wished they could drink a beer too! Today I’m pretty sure the Fun Police have shut that down!

There is a restaurant at the boat ramp here. The boat ramp is literally right beside the back deck. You can talk to the people on the ramp with a loud voice. That patio gets packed! A legit dinner and drinks at the ramp is always a good time

Oh the other hand though, when you're actually the boater, putting a restaurant by the ramp was the stupidest idea even because in order to get to the ramp you have to drive through the restaurant parking lot with your boat while dealing with the general public and their parking lot skills . With a larger truck and decent size boat, it's tight.

This past weekend we got the corner table. This is me standing right behind my chair that I ate in. It's that close. All the kids were ramp cheerleaders hahaha.

Each pontoon should have a drain hole in the back, good idea to check them occasionally just to make sure you don't have a leak.

Also, anyone that has been boating for a while has forgotten the drain plug at some point, if they tell you they never have, they are lying.

Mine are sealed. I even called the dealer and asked. They are tested at as the factory for leaks with some sort of gas I'm told. If they do ever leak they drill and weld in a bung for a threaded plug, that's how I would end up with a plug.

That's what I'm told . Before we went out for the first time I check top to bottom, side to side, under its underpants, everywhere and couldn't find a dang thing.

The kids have all grown so they went shoe shopping today with Mrs B so I got my plumbing done, valves updated to 1/4 turn and about 3/4 of a wall done.

I love those valves, should plumbing occur in the bathrooms those will be added.

AS for shoes, kids played 3 sports, needed practice and game shoes, also regular daily wear, we were shoe poor for a few years and man they grow up fast! Enjoy them!!

Yea whenever I redo a space I always change to 1/4 turns, so much easier. I hate the old full turn gate valves. You know how many handles I've snapped off because they rust and won't turn.

Yea I hear you !! I've got 3 in soccer and 2 in gymnastics and 2 in the horse world!! Just be glad you didn't have to be in the horse mob!!

Nope, no farrier needed. Was not of interest to the kids to have a hayburner. I am thankful of that as I could see it turning large amounts of greenbacks into poop!

I got my granite cut and in. Working on all my trim out before I paint. I want to paint before I get the flooring in. It's easier to paint with a beer that way

Got rid of some old nasty cans. I bought these can conversion kits off of Amazon that came with the black trim ring. The kit has a bracket that screws inside the can which turns it into a standard bracket. Then just has a standard light bulb base whip for your new fixture. Pretty neat and easy.

I think the Farm Progress show has only been there a few years. It used to move around and then they got locations in Iowa and Illinois and just go every other year.

Sad part is they used to put on demo's but now all the ground has been used so they can't demo tile machines or anything anymore since everything has already been done. They still demo combines and started demoing all the new drone tech.

It was pretty impressive. Lots of manufacturers and vendors. I can't believe how many things are becoming available as remote control / semi-autonomous and how many different applications drones are being used for. Pretty soon you will be able to farm just sitting on a computer in your office haha.

For unmentionable reasons at the moment we took a drive down to Tennessee today and ended up having lunch at this cool little river marina. Food was excellent and the atmosphere was super chill. Nice folks and good food can't really beat that.
