Boots, how are they looking?

I should have bought two or three pairs once I realized what good boots they were, but I never imagined that they'd stop making such a perfect product.

Isn't it funny how that happens, you find a boot you like and they quit making them. If they don't quit making them, they try to upgrade them and make them worse.

Story of my life also. Sometimes I'm kinda cheap when it comes to buying shoes, but I was fed up with sore feet and decided to get something comfortable, whatever it cost. I found a pair of of hiking style boots that I really liked, and they were less than $40. I wore them for about 6 months and still loved them, so I went back to buy a second pair, but was too late, they were already discontinued.

I have been buying Hi-Tech Altitude IV shoes, they were comfortable, would last a couple of years, and the price wasn't bad at $60-$70 a pair. Last fall I bought my third pair and they just felt different. They looked the same, but were not as comfortable, and developed a squeak in the sole after a couple of months, so now I'm done with those. Don't know what to try next. I wore Redwings a long time ago, might have to go back.

Finally broke down and got another pair of Redwing 2233's. Great boots, comfortable-old ones still good-just need better looking ones for work-since I'm trying to sell stuff..

Right now I have a pair of ariats. Actually this is my second pair. These are the ones I have now.

Before that I tried the workhogs. They have lasted a good while. I used to wear die hards. Terrible boot would get 4-5 months from them at best. I have wore Georgia boots, redwings, and timberlines. So far these ariats have held up the longest, wore real well, and look even better as they age. Plus I don't have to tie my boots! I have 2 years on my boots. I work at a supervisory level on commercial and industrial construction sites.

Those ariat ramblers I currently have were soft and comfortable right from the start. The work hogs took a little bit to break in. Great boot overall!

What do you guys think of the chippewa? I like the look of them and they're made in the US!

Pretty rough, yesterday I changed out a pair of Blue steel slip ons that I had been wearing for years for a pair of Blue steel lace ups I hadn't worn for years, the lace ups are wider and seem a bit more comfortable but I still have sore feet, nothing different really, Ive had sore feet for about 5 years.

The most comfortable boots I've had are red wing king toes, nothing else with a metatarsal cover comes close.

Seems like I always come back to Red Wings, I will get 2-3 years out of a pair then less than a year out of the next pair. I try some other brand, don't like them go back to Red Wings and the cycle repeats itself.

I used to LIVE in Carolina Engineer Boots. They weren't real cushy on the inside, but once they broke in, they were like slippers. I could even run in them. Unfortunately, a motorcycle accident in 94 changed the way I walk just enough that they don't "work" for me anymore. I'm WAAY overdue for new work shoes/boots. For a few years I've been happy with Magnums. I wore the Viper Low from Mar-Nov & the 6" waterproof from Nov-Mar.

From reading this I think I'll try some Thorogoods if I can find them locally to try on. I have had bad luck mail ordering shoes...

Ive had several brands of boots the most notable one would be redwing, justin, wolverine, and timberland

Tried the 100 and 200 dollar range red wings when I did landscaping. These never held up. Had me an old pair of wolverines that I would use in stead. Put those wolverines through hell and they kept asking for more.

When I got my current job as a maintence mechanic is sky rises I bought a new set of wolverines until my company paid for work boots came in. I was at first sad that TX they didnt have wolverines on the list of boots for us. So I order up some timberlake pro series a guy told me where good. They are heavy as sin with the punture plates and steel toes but they take a beating.

My justins are my nice around the house boots my better half got me and they are comfortable as well

If you can't get Wolverine, look for Bates. They make Wolverine and have many very similar models between the two.

my duty boots are danner acadia. I had a hard time swallowing the cost at first, but boy have they been worth it. Made in the usa and lifetime warranty. Feel like slippers on a 24hr shift.

Same here. I zip them up in the morning and don't remove them till 24 hours later. Fantastic boots.

I wear a pair of comfort sole made-in-USA CAROLINA boots now days.
VERY comfortable whether walking around town, or hiking in the mountains.

It is funny you should ask about boots. I have had a pair of cowboy boots now for about twenty years. And I only wore them a few times when I first bought them. They have been in my closet since then. I tried them on the other day only to find that they are way too small. I couldn't get them on my feet because my feet have spread over the years. . I read on the internet that you can dunk them in warm water to stretch them out. So, that is what I did. I put them on while they were wet and they slid right on. I walked around with them wet and they have stretched out to where I can wear them now. I hated to have to get rid of $150.00 pair of boots. But now they are fine.

I used to wear Danners until they outsourced. Now I buy Whites, out of Spokane, and Red wings. The Red wings are the only boots I have owned to be comfy right out of the box. I keep them greased and they are completely waterproof. Great boots, wish I had tried them earlier.

Ive got a pair of cats, and I kid you not, they must be about 25 yrs old!
Not a single stitch has come loose, and they are still in great condition.

About the only boots I can wear are Canadian army surplus, size 14W. Got one pair made by Boulet, other ones are anonymous. The most expensive were $30 and never worn.

Give KEEN a try. I am a garbage man and put my boots through tough duty. The KEEN Utility boots are similar to hiking boots, but with tougher soles. Very comfy!
