borderline insanity project

I have struggled with swapping the work areas in my shop, and am ready to start. The insanity part comes from the fact that everything has to be back in place Sunday afternoon and I already know I am getting ambushed in the morning. I have been told that "YOU ARE GOING" Black Friday shopping with me.

There is 1' 10" more room on the left side (north) of the shop, and on the right side(South) I always to work around my equipment when doing a project. My goal is to have a better layout on the left side when I am done.

There's so much cool stuff in that space, I love it!

I've been reorganizing my shop space for about 3-4 months now, I could only imagine doing it in a couple days lol. Best of luck to you sir!

Well, pretty good progress today. Tomorrow after Black Friday shopping with the wife I will move the bolt bins, wash the walls, hang some signs and start to unload the south side shelf unit.

Border line insanity. Nah. That's a refuge.

Just got back from Wally World with the wife. I feel like I've been beat. Next year I think I'll give her the difference in money to stay home.

All. Thanks for the support & comments

Radio Ron. I have about a dozen from 1hp to 10hp. Once I get things back in place I post some photos.

CNGSaves. Those are 5 gallon and there are also some 1 and 2 gallon cans also

After Black Friday shopping with the wife I was able to get a few things moved around and part of the big shelf unit reloaded.

I saw a tire sticking out with a fender, up on your lift and thought Lotus 7!! But it was a trailer. But I do like the idea of using the trailer for a shelf during this job. I hope I remember it someday when I have a trailer, and a lift.

I like the tidy organization of welding clamps, too.

Thanks Squankum

I gathered up all my bar clamps and was able to put them on one end of the pallet rack, still need to put 3 more shelf units and the bolt bins in place. I have friend coming in the morning to help move the mill & Lathe. I will post a few more pictures in the morning.

Looking good there Homey! I am so sorry that I was not able to fly out and assist..... <grin>

Are you going to show these guys the rest of your awesome shop when you're done with the rearrange, or just leave them hanging? Heck, just the area under cover on the south side is worth looking at...

Guys, don't let JP hold back! He has one of the best home shops that I've ever seen! 40 x 90 footprint, with separate rooms for lawn and garden storage, office and display area, as well as a nice storage room for his wife. The main shop has three big roll up doors and a vehicle lift. Vertical mill, lathe, TIG, MIG and stick welders, bandsaw and a ton of old cool signs (all original), old gas station memorabilia as well as hit and miss engines. He has one sign that came from the original Packard Motor Company.

Outside he has old farm equipment, including tractors, David Bradley's, anvils, a massive 12' windmill; Jeff's shop is nicer than my house!

Moving project is progressing. I have about an hour to move the trailer and a couple of things out of the way and I will be ready for my buddy to stop by & help me move the Mill & Lathe.

I am amazed at how different the shop looks with the new layout. Here are a couple of pictures of the new layout on the south side

Well I was able to get a lot done yesterday but as usual life gets in the way sometimes. Had to do something else for about 3 hours and did not get as far as I wanted. Overall pleased with the results. I still need to finish putting things back on the shelves and then clean up. I will be ready for the Hit & Miss Engine workshop and shop tour on this coming Saturday.

Thanks for the comments!

Wow, what a nice shop. You seem to have it all together in my view. Looks like you could work on about anything in there. Moving around is just part of the drill. Everyone does it once in a while, it's the best way to sweep and dust the shop. You are doing great!!

Best Regards
Herb Spencer

Not much to show the last couple of days. Mostly some outside cleanup projects. One of my windmill buddies came by and bought my extra windmill parts & pieces, so that cleaned up some outside shelves. Then last night my wife's son came by and we loaded his 5x10 trailer with scrap.(extra Christmas money for his family) So clean up progress was made in a couple of outside areas and back into the shop tonight. May have some new pictures tomorrow night of friday morning. Thanks for all the comments.

Larry, you 're right, this is my once a year deep cleaning. I just went overboard this year with rearranging the shop layout. If you get down this way we like to meet you. I have enjoyed reading your thread and admire you for being able to care for your father.

Wow, running out of time to be ready for the Hit & Miss Engine workshop/ Shop tour on Saturday. No new pictures this evening. Lots of the little things got put up tonight. Still need to finish a few things, vacuum the spiders off the lights, put up some of the signs that are getting relocated and a few more of that won't take too long but ends up taking 2 hours items. Should be able to post a few pictures tomorrow evening or Saturday morning. I will try to remember to take some photos of the event for Sunday morning.

Spiders are beneficial predators, I let most of them live in my shop. You have a great looking place, nothing wrong with reorganizing for better ergonomics!

Thanks nine4gmc!
It's already growing on me. There seems to be more room on both sides of the shop now. I don't mind the spiders outside, but they go crazy in the shop, windows, display stuff and along both sides of the lights and in between the tubes.

Those old hit-miss engines are killer, I would like to find a small one but can't recall ever seeing one around here. That one is AWESOME!

Well, the borderline insanity project did not get quite completed but I was able to get almost everything completed. There are a few loose ends left, some signs, a shelf and cans to put back up.

Overall pretty satisfied with the project, thanks to everyone for following along. I will post some up date photos of the shop once the signs and cans are back in place.

We had 42 guys, some were able to stay for a couple of hours and some were able to stay for lunch. The big Sheffield Engine needed a couple of adjustments and when started ran awesome.

Nice pix bro, that 55 chev is sharp too!

Scott

Thanks Scott. There is a Paul Newman Chassis under that pretty body, the car is very nicely done. Real clean and simple. And it Scoots! Dave did a very nice burn out on 107th when he left. Not as loud as Roy's driveway burnouts though.
