Well, I found a used 1590 and I can't wait to receive it and try it out after all of the accolades posted here and elsewhere regarding these saws from Bosch. Will keep you all posted on what I find and my input on it. Thanks again OP for letting this forum know of it.

I've had a 1590 since the early / mid 2000s. I bought it to make a prop for a large project my wife had while she was in college before we got married. My biggest issue with the top handle design is that it is uncomfortable after long periods of use so I've kind of wanted to get a barrel grip 1591 - too bad they're now discontinued. For little projects, my Milwaukee M12 cordless has become the go to but the 1590 still comes out every once in a while - just used it a couple of weeks ago and plan to use it again this weekend to wrap up my son's Lego table.

Here are mine, from the earliest 1581VS that requires a long, skinny screwdriver to change blades (actually my favorite) to the 1587AVS with the fiddly blade changing, to the JS470EB barrel grip with the quick change blade.

Cool photo ez-duz it. That looks like it took some work to set up the side lighting.

A--thank you. All I did was drape a piece of black velvet over a plywood backdrop on top of my workbench. Lighting is from a fluorescent ceiling fixture plus a CFL bulb in a clip-on light. Fill flash from my ancient Nikon D200's popup flash. Then I rotated the image to vertical format.

These are the best jigsaws I know of. And I still use the oldest saw the most. Just love the screwdriver blade change. Speed control is excellent and you never have to adjust it while cutting anyway. Tilt adjustment is less convenient, but that is rarely used.

That is a cool picture. Those saws all look well used.

I do think there is a good benefit to having both styles of Jigsaws (upper handle and barrel grip) . I bought a Ridgid R3110 but I hate it because of the top mounted switch and lack of variable speed. The barrel is a little big as well to properly grip it.

Does this bring back memories for me.

My dad repaired power tools back in the late 60s and early 70s.

One of his prize tools that he used was the Bosch barrel jigsaw. It would out-saw everything on the market at that time.

Back then I was his tool-fetcher and flashlight holder.

Does anyone know if the 1590 will take the blades with U shape as well as the T or, just the T shank ones?
