Has anybody seen or tried one of these ultra-tiny Bosch chainsaws (4mm blade)? They look like interesting engineering and I'm happy companies are trying new stuff, but I'm not convinced.

Not distributed in the US, AFAIK.

PS: Apologies if my search-fu has missed what are almost certainly other threads on this thing that I haven't read yet!

My only experience with that is watching AvE destroy boxes (open packaging) with it on youtube.

Seems to work well for that task and probably minor pruning, though if I remember correctly he started having issues with the longevity.

I watched a few reviews where they tried cutting notches out of wood and they were miserable for that. I honestly can't see a need for this outside of novelty

I really want one just for the novelty, but I can't imagine it does anything that my M12 Hackzall doesn't do better. I guess maybe it has less chance of the blade grabbing and shaking the everloving **** out of small stuff, but then you've got to deal with possible kickback.

That is an EXTREMELY DANGEROUS TOOL ! Its small size could easily cause one to forget that that chain will rip you up in a split second !

Looks like a toy, I gotta admit.

Plunge cuts are a good point -- they claim that's a particular advantage and demonstrate plunge cutting at 0:13 into this video:

Later on they show what a ragged, splintery cut it makes unless one uses some little plastic insert.

This video really makes it look gimmicky. This demonstration ain't gonna sell it to this group. Some of the comments on this one are quite funny.
