I want to hear some actual users tell me what they think of the Bosch IDH182. It's the one with the 1/2" socket driver AND the 1/4" hex chuck for driver bits.

Has anyone used one for any length of time? Honest opinions?

I use a good mix of sockets and driver bits, so this impact really appeals to me. I'm not dedicated to any one brand, so battery compatibilty is not an issue.

Thanks.

I have one, and use it more often for construction and building project more than in the garage. It is fairly powerful, remarkably light when used with the slim battery pack, and the lighting brighter and more useful than some other drivers that have only a single light source. I also seem to use it split between using smaller 1/2" sockets and 3/8" with an adaptor. It's not going to be happy doing heavy work like lug nuts, but it can manage ones tightened to about 100 lb/ft max.

For bits, I use the 1.5-2" driver bits in the chuck, or a magnetic holder for the 1" bits. The torque control is very handy in preventing stripped or broken screw heads, or bits for that matter. Depending on what you will use this driver for, you will be pleased. It's not the most compact, as the combo drive and the red release collar add a bit of length, but that's not an issue for me.
