Went to Home Depot (Rt 30 in Joliet, IL) at lunch today to pick a couple of things up and made a quick run through the tool department. Noticed that they had the Bosch 10.8V PS40-2 Impactor on clearance for $99 from $199.

Combine that with the standard driver rebate by mail and it works out to be a pretty good deal.

Unfortunately, my budget doesn't allow right now since we're finishing a patio.

I was looking at the impactor, there are some other threads on it already, and 800 inlbs of torque, what am I supposed to be able to do with that? Thats like 67 ftlbs.

You drive screws with it.

It's an impact driver, not an impact wrench.

Also, there's a thread on Slickdeals about it; i.e. if you want to get in on this deal - hurry.

Drive self tappers into rediron standing on an extension ladder 20 feet off of hard concrete ONE handed, drive Tapcons faster than my 18V DeWalt without stripping them, remove a panel cover in 10 seconds rather than 2 minutes, ETC ETC ETC. Can you tell I have one, love it and use it daily at work?

I'm still mad at Home Depot. A few months ago they had the same model on clearance online for $59 but out of stock. Two of my local HDs refused to price-match the online price saying that it was a different store.

I just got in on pretty much the same deal but not quite as good. It was the I-driver for 119.00 with the standard pocket driver rebate. Still a screamer of a deal.

That's a hell of a deal. I bought my 3 months ago on-line for $149

Man, the uses can be limitless. Most jobs do not call for 100 ft/lbs of torque!

Damn, $99! That is a hell of a deal! I just bought mine for $143 at Lowes. It came with the bonus flashlight and I sent off for the free PS-20. I already have a PS-20, but I figure I can get something for it on ebay when the new one comes.

Just in case anyone is wondering, Home Depot paid more than $99 for these.

wow, finally patience paid of not ordering from Amazon for $150 (I missed their 1 day special price of $110) I got a free holster too!

BTW I believe using a socket with it decrease the torque quite a bit due to the weight the anvil have to strike..

somewhere...
Just got the last one at the Burlington, VT Home Depot.

Nothing free (flashlight, holster) that I know of, though I haven't opened the box yet.

Hell of a deal :)

Picked one up in Lockport NY today. None on the display or floor level, had to get an employee grab one off the top shelf. Came with a free flashlight. $99.00 + tax.

Best thing is, the PS-20 rebate is good until purchase date 7/15, so that's a flashlight, PS-40 and PS-20 for $99. Can't beat that with a stick.

Boiler7904, THANKS for the tip!!!

is there any other bit beside the philips and flat that comes with it, I was expecting an extension because the manual shows it.

Don't waste your time and gas driving around to find hex extensions that will accept 1/4" sockets. I went through that futile exercise a few months ago. The only place I could find them locally (order) was at Graingers. The extensions are made by Proto and you can get them in various lengths.

wow this thing really rocks, get some ACO bits from the deck section and you will be unstoppable.. The only thing a bit different is that it works pretty fast so bad wood or screw might crack and snap before you have a chance to react.

Sears hardware has them for 1/4" and 3/8" sockets in my area, but only one length.

Made in USA, too :)

SNap-On has them, also. Do NOT get the adapters that use a locking pin. They ****. Get one with a ball like a normal extension.

DeWalt makes them and Home Depot stocks them here.

Was at the local HD today and went to see if they had the PS40-2 in stock. Sticker was on the shelf, but none in location.
I asked a sales clerk about them and he said someone came in the other day and bought all their stock.

Dayum ebayers....

Wouldn't you know it, got some belated birthday money today and my local HD is sold out. I'll have to try the stores near work on Monday.

They were all gone at my store. They still had the price up and the display model on the floor. Nothing left to buy.

Buy the display model then, rookies! They usually keep the boxes for the UPC, and maybe you can even get a discount for the floor model!

I gave that some thought but I was really buying it as a gift and the floor model was really beat up. There used to be a display in the store that you could run down screws.

Argh! So close. All out in Auburn, NY. Display box there but driver no where to be found. But 240 mile round trip = 8 gallons of premium (~$38) or 12 of diesel ($60+), either way, cheaper online!

Congrats to all who scored the deal!

I tried that yesterday. Tool dept. manager said the display models don't come with batteries, case, etc., just the tool for display.

He was wrong. Look up in the rafters, and you will see boxes marked "display". That is the box for that last tool they carry. It may, as another said, be scratched up, but usually it is not bad, and still has the warranty.
