Bosch miter saw measurement.

Anyone have the 12" bosch miter saw pictured below? I need the measurement in the picture for my info before I order one. I have nowhere close to see it in person. Does anyone have a review or pros cons?

I like mine, but I am not near it, so I can't measure it. Others have said that it doesn't cut square, I have not experienced any major issues. Even though the theory is great, it is a "new" design, so there may be kinks that we don't know about yet. Full disclosure, I am not a carpenter or woodworker by trade, so I don't use it all the time. I was just tired of the space the sliders took up and thought this was a rugged, cool design.

I have had mine since it came out and I just measured 19 inches. I love it, cuts square all day long. I put a Forrest blade on mine.

What measurement are you looking for (hard to tell in your pic) From the back of the saw to the front of the 'foot'?

Keep in mind that if your going to make any cuts besides 90 degrees, the back of the saw needs about 1" clearance when it rotates. So with that in mind, the front of the foot on my saw is at 20" from the wall and I would agree with Texacan's 19" without

I have an old kitchen counter for a table top in my shop and wanted to make sure it would fit. My old slider wouldn't. That is 24" if I'm not mistaken. So I should be good. Plus I have bare studs, so I might get it back into the stud bay some.

The great Izzy Swan uses that saw, likely Bosch gave it to him since he's such an ikon in the woodworking world but Izzy seems to actually really like it. I tried it out at a trade show and I didn't like it due to the safety trigger which truly sucked in my view. I have a Dewalt non-slider and I like the no safety feature of it. This safety trigger is the dumbest thing on Earth. This is true of circular saws as well. If your hand is on the damn trigger it can't be anywhere else (like somewhere it can be cut off) what's the purpose of these safety locks? I find them far more dangerous than without as I'm fumbling to turn the saw on.

Haven't all of the complaints been with the 10"? When the 12" Axial Glide first came it was very well regarded on the various wood working forums.

I no longer lurk on those forums and may not be aware of issues with the more recent 12" AG's.

I have the 12" Glider and its idea of square is a circle. I've tried adjusting it following the manual time and time again and it's just not even close. I got frustrated and just pushed it to the back of my work bench and brought back out my old Delta 10" miter saw. Definitely my greatest tool purchase regret by far. I'm sure other people have had awesome luck with theirs but I'm pretty mad at myself for wasting 700$ on it when it came out. Maybe this summer I can really get into it and see what the issue is (runout maybe? uneven arbor flange? UFOs?) with it but as mine stands you could only use it for rough framing work.

I just picked one up at HD for $389 earlier today. Sold my 5412L a few minutes ago for $315. I loved my 5412L and I'm sure I'll love the DB, though it's going to be sitting on a shelf for a while. My Milwaukee 10" cordless is going to be my primary miter saw until I need a 600lb 12" again for something.

Just about all the professional woodworking saws have the ability to be squared. Many people can use them right out of the box, but a woodworker is going to square up any saw when they buy it, and it's good for anyone to check as they can shift in transit.

I would definitely get that fixed. Ideally you would have known that within the return window if it was defective. Bosch has a pretty good warranty department and they're in Illinois and good to deal with, sounds like you've had it a long time now but they can still probably assist you and parts are not too bad. It's still IMO the top saw in the 12" slider class, without being a slider.

Yeah I wish I would have realized right when I bought it but I just turned it on to check that it worked. I would have just brought it back to the store. When I started trying to use it I realized something was way off. I've gone through the process of squaring it a few times and no dice. I'm fine with it not being square out of the box as long as it's possible to square it up.

I have an old 10" craftsman regular miter saw. I let someone borrow it and they broke the locking pivot handle off the front. I just had the deck welded at 90° and its only used for square cuts like wet deck boards and the such.
