Bosch or Metabo Grinders?

I'm looking at getting a grinder and Fastenel has Bosch @ $107 and Metabo @ $130 both are made in Germany. Which one should I get?

I just got my W8-115 to go with my W14-150Quick. After a few friends in industry pointed me to them, I decided to try them out. I have owned Milwaukee, Dewalt, Makita, and Bosch. The only two to never let me down are the Metabo and Bosch. Given to choice now, I am sticking with Metabo. Well worth the money. Check ebay for a better price, same warranty.

One more vote for Metabo. I love mine, but I have never used a Bosch so my opinion is biased.

I have a 4.5" and 7", both have be flawless. I'm selling the 7" for $65

I'm calling ******** on this, unless I see proof. Stanley just sold one of their divisions to bosch not long ago.

As for grinders, as much as i love bosch, I would go for metabo. By far, more professional shops are using them.

Ehh, I mis-spoke, Bosch is in bed with SKIL, not Stanley. Not that that's any better. I stand by my previous preference for Metabo.

ps: Bosch acquired a couple of tool companies....: Skil, Dremel, Freud, Sia, RoboToolz, CST/berger (from Stanley), vermont american, Rotozip, david white....

If any of you guys got some time to kill, I'd like to know the difference between a Bosch 1347A and a Bosch 1375A. I stared at both their specs last night and can't tell the difference.

that's a very good question. the only difference I see other than slight cosmetic differences, is the fact that the 47 weighs more.

METABO Bosch has really seemed to have turned into a DIY grade brand over the last decade. I guess it was about the time they jumped into the big boxes...

Aside from the 1375A model being less weight, it also has "Epoxy Coated Field Windings — Provides ultimate protection against abrasive dust and metal debris".

Also, the 2 position auxiliary handle is "specifically designed and angled to a "natural" position for maximum comfort and control" while the 1347A doesn't; the side handle is at a right angle to the housing as shown by a closer look at pics of the two.

I forgot to add: a close family friend of mine has been a stone mason for 15+ years and he always raves about Metabo grinders. But he does also give props to Bosch for their hammer drills.

The 1375 has the newer slim housing the other has the old style.
