I have an old cheapie laser level to use for setting grades for drainage and stuff. It never worked real well in sun. The receiver died so I was thinking of picking up the GRL 250 from lowes. I suffer from what's better itis and looked to see the other models in the line. After some searching I now have my eye on the GRL 500. Primarily because I like the full control from the receiver.

Looking on CPO I see it's available for $699 and right now there is a $50 off orders of $200. This puts is at $649 for a more capable laser vs the Lowes at $599. Granted it's a refurbished but this does not sway me. There is a 60 day return policy.

Anyone use one and have an opinion? They also have a GRL 400 H for half the price with only the laser and receiver. I hate having choices. :)

Finding the one laser level that does it all without spending a load is impossible. I would say spend the extra money. You generally will be happy with the choice of having the extra capabilities. I have a PLS (Pacific Laser Systems) so far so happy.
