Anyone ever used their framing or roofing nailers? I have the small finish kit, finish, brad, and stapler. They have worked flawlessly. I am looking at some of the reconditioned ones on Ebay. Should I stay away from those? I've looked at them in the store and have sticker shock. $150 shipped for each seems reasonable.

Does the framer shoot round head or only clipped head nails?

I have a round head bostitch framing nailer and think that it is great. The one I have has a attachment to nail individual nails into metal framing connections. I will look for the model number and post it on here.

I have 2 bostitch roofing nailers that work great. I did a lot of searching when I bought them and the bostitch and hitatchi were recommended as the top.

I believe bostitch makes both round head and clipped framing nailers.

I believe that clipped head framing nails are being phased out due to hurricane and storm issues. I wouldn't buy a nailer that shoots them. I have the Bostitch that works for both framing and metal connectors, great unit.
Thanks, Dave

Just curious, hasn't most Bostich become sourced almost entirely out of China? They may still be quality, not saying they're not, just curious, as most Bostich I see in Lowe's is all Chinesey. Previously I always pegged them as a high end German brand but I don't know what their status is now.

All my Porter Cable nailers are either Chi or Tai so I'm in no position to criticize.

I've heard no complaints about Bostitch, they are a highly regarded brand. I wonder how long they have been outsourcing them?

How long have you owned the PC nailers? I have two PC brad nailers for trim work and both are USA, made in Tennesse I believe. I bought them in 2002 or abouts.

Just checked, they're Tai not Chi.
Yeah you bought at the right time. I waited too long.

I think there was massive Asian Whoring across the board by US power tool companies in the middle of the 2000s. I think that's when Milwaukee went, too. I kick myself for not tooling up better in the 1990s.

I find the upscale Asian tools work OK but they don't inspire confidence, allegiance, or love; no pride of ownership. If you stuck a gun in my face and demanded my new Asian tools I'd say "Take Em" but I'd fight you for my 1990s vintage Milwaukee drills.

For the record my Tai PC nailers seem to work OK, but I've nothing to compare them to. They jam occasionally, and the depth setting seems to give variable results.

It's been Stanley/Bostich for awhile.

I've had a N80S frame nailer for over 25 yrs, it's built quite a few houses, garages, barns/sheds, decks, basements, you name it. Put a rebuild kit in it once. No regrets here.
Use genuine Bostich nails, keep it well oiled.

Ive got a brad, finish, roofing, and siding via Bostitch. I went with a Paslode 350 for a framer. All good guns, I dont have issues with misfires, or double fires. Id buy them again, Im looking for a Bostitch Flooring nailer right now, used but like new.

I should also add, I mostly went with the Paslode, because they make the nails I wanted, and are available to me locally, otherwise I probably would have went with the Bostitch Framer as well.

I do have a brand spanking new, never fired roofer for sale, Its an RN46-1. I bought it for one of my guys, who pissed me off before I got around to giving it to him. My older RN-46 looks like its been drug behind a pickup for about 50 miles, but still works like a charm.

I am going to start building my garage in the spring and am trying to get tooled up over the winter. It sounds like both of these nailers would be easily up to the task. What is the part # for the roofer that is also for siding?

I have a Bostich N-80C full head coil framing nailer, Have had it for over 20 years now and outside of a quick O ring freebie by the Bostich reps at a trade show, the thing has seen 0 service and not quite the amount of "daily" oiling they call for. I also have a FN60 (I think) It's a Bostich finish gun that will shoot up to 2 1/2 inch finish nails. I put a trigger valve in it once and that's been it for about 20 years as well.
That being said, I would look carefully at the types, sizes and materials that the nails are available in to make sure that you can get the correct fasteners for your needs before committing to any gun,
