Been visiting the site and lurking for a few years but never officially joined. From Metro-West Boston area (Ashland). Worked as a chef for the last 10 years and before that tuned bikes/ skis. Stay home now with my son (6 months) and tackle the duties of stay-at-home Dad and tinkerer while time allows.....

Between having used cheap tools and high quality tools back when I worked on bikes/ skis, having done apprentice- type work in carpentry & electrical, and using high quality knives in the kitchen....I like finding the best values, quality...that makes the job easier and less of a headache....

In my time lurking...i've been turned onto Wera and it also cemented my decision to switch platforms when my 14.4 NiCad makita died.....

I've been researching compressors for a shed/ deck build we have coming up and I would prob. not have come across Rolair if I hadn't.

NSC: i haven't heard of Wera and i have had great luck with Ryobi's 18v tools now that they have better batteries. good luck with Wera and i'll have to read up on them when i get some time.

is Rolair compressor a small compressor to run a nailer or what are you using it for? that's another name I am not familiar with. i hang in the old tool sections so my 2 year old Ryobi 18v are the newest tools i think i own and a lot of them are pre 1960's.

i bet you can really see the difference in having nice tools in the kitchen and not so nice ones because my wife is a pretty good cook and she almost gets giddy when she finds a nice upgrade to here kitchen tools.

cheers and best of luck with the deck project because i have one of my own this summer along with a fence and putting in a new backyard.
