Looking for a decent bottle jack. Bought a Harbor Freight one yesterday and the jack part seemed ok, but the 2 piece handle was horrible. I remember one that my dad had years ago (like 40 years ago) that had a solid single piece handle. Not as compact, but much nicer to use IMO. Since I don't have a need for compactness, just portability, does anyone make something like that now?

Even the "good" ones that are recommended here have 2 piece handles - but I'm sure a much nicer than the HF one. That one was really bad - just 2 pipes they crimped a little.

Weld the two together at the slip joint. Done it for floor jacks before.

Just use a solid rod of appropriate size if that is what you want.
