I have to undo the left motor mount on my Dodge ram to replace a dipstick tube. The truck will be up on stands but as much as I trust my old USA Hein Werner to hold and adjust the engine, I don't like sticking my fingers any place that is supported by a jack . I came across the Powerbuilt 2 and 3 ton combo units that have the ease of fine adjustment with a short bottle jack handle plus a ratchet latching system on the jack stand. Searching around, I discovered that there is a cheaper one and a more expensive one by about 10 bucks. You can see the difference where the bottle jack attaches to the jack stand center post. Sears and others have the cheaper one,640921 and Home depot (Husky) and others have the more expensive one, 620471. I emailed Powerbuilt about the difference but got no answer. Not surprised, just another Chinese junk importer. However it may serve my purpose. My question is, does anybody know anything about either version or the difference between them or whether there is a better one out there. I really like the concept.

We use similar things on aircraft. Big bottle jack but the shaft that extends out the top has a thread on it and a big collar winds down to the bottom of the shaft once its extended to lock it in place. Would be surprised if such a thing did not exist for cars?
