I recently got a good deal on a Hunter R811 alignment machine and thought really had something, but I'm trying to figure a few things out on this thing and get it up and running. Hoping people here might know some of the answers - or maybe where else to go looking for them.
First thing I did was take the PC out - and make sure it seemed to be working correctly. The PC seems healthy, but I'll probably make a few improvements - add memory and RAID the boot drive just to make sure I don't lose the PC.
I thought from what I was reading - that I needed to have the software key to make this thing run - which I discovered after I purchased it - that I did not have (it didn't come with that round key thing that Hunter advertises as a "key"). But once I get the PC reinstalled back into the cabinet - and hooked it up to the USB control box - the WinAlign software came all the way up and let me read specs and get into the alignment procedure.
So that's the first thing that has me a bit confused - so I don't need the actual key? This thing is running WinAlign v9 - and it's the "HD" version for aligning trucks. It also does all light vehicles as well - and I found that the specs are apparently updated all the way to 2020. Which is great because that means it covers both of the vehicles I have and would want to align first with it.
Question: does anybody know what the update procedure is for these? Do I need those keys to do an update? Can I update from the "HD" version - to a standard version of the WinAlign software? I used the link provided over in this thread:
www.garagejournal.com
and downloaded pretty much everything on the Korean Hunter site - so I've got the ISO images for all the WinAlign versions up to v17.
My next problem is: the unit came missing one of the front wheel sensors. I did find a complete set of the standard (light vehicle) DSP506-XF sensors for a good price - got them delivered a couple days ago .... and tried to connect them to the unit today - but they won't connect for some reason.
I figure they might not be on the same wireless channel - so I was trying to get that working, but even with these sensors that I bought hooked up thru the cables - it won't recognize them.
The three sensors that came with the unit - will all connect up and show green whether than are connected thru wireless - or thru the cables.
I tried to do a firmware upgrade on the all of the sensors - and the ones that came with the unit said they were up to date - and the other ones still won't get recognized - even when attached by cable.
Makes me wonder if maybe the sensors I bought - are running a later firmware and my v9 version of WinAlign won't recognize them? I can't think of anything else that could be going on.
According to the WinAlign manual - and the stuff that comes up from within WinAlign - I should be able to move sensors from another system over to mine . It's called out as a feature in case a shop needs to move sensors around from unit to unit. So I'm not sure why it's not working with mine. The only other thing I can think of is that my unit is running WinAlign v9 HD - and the other sensors I bought are from a standard (non truck) unit.
I'd really like to get this thing working.

Hunter WinAlign alignment software
I've got a Hunter R811 alignment machine that's been starting to give me the dreaded blue screen of death so I figured I should probably re-install Windows XP but when I bought the machine, it didn't come with the WinAlign DVD. Does anyone have a copy of WinAlign version 9? I've checked eBay...
